Where is the smog pump located?

Just like the thread title states. I bought a Smog Pump deletion kit from UPR and some 5/8 caps for the heads and H-Pipe but im not very familiar with the smog pump's location.

I beleive it's on the left hand side of the engine bay beneath the air filter closest to teh floor. am I right?

It's at the bottom left corner of your belt.. you'll need to pull out all the valves and hoses and obviously the pipes from the back of the heads and plug them.. and then cap the vacuum lines that went to the one-way valves. And run a shorter belt, unless the kit came with a dummy pulley. You'll also want to weld up or plug the hole on your h pipe where the air pipe went.

I already have a couple of 5/8' plugs for the heads and H-pIpe. As UPR recommended

My smog pump locked up on me and put my car on the side of the road the morning of an autocross . This happened just a couple of weeks ago. All I did is just bought a 84.5" belt, got the correct routing diagram, and bypassed it. I did all of this while it was on the side of the road, towing a fox GT with a brand new front bumper cover with a towstrap does not appeal to me. I will probably remove the smog pump when I do the h/c/i project in a couple of weeks. Seeing this person post that he got some sort of kit is making me wonder though. Is there any reason I should have gone with a kit of some sort instead of just bypassing it entirely with a shorter belt?

You could have saved some money and just bought a shorter belt.

I was originally going to do what you suggested but heard from a couple people that guys were throwing belts every now and then. I payed up for the pulley.

No, now just pull all that crap out of there and you'll shave about 20 lbs from the front of your car.

There's no reason why the properly sized belt would break, wear faster, or get thrown if you route it right. I ran a short belt for about a year, same belt, no problems. I had to change it last month because I got the FMS a/c delete kit and needed a different length, but I never had an issue with it.

I just cut the vacuum lines before the 4 way fitting and capped them with some 1/8" vacuum caps.

WHere did you get the correct routing diagram? and how hard was it to install the belt? would an 84.5 belt work for everyone?
