Hey guys, I've been out of the Mustang loop for a few years now, but I've just purchased a rebuildable 02 GT. It needs a new cradle, and I'm just wondering where is the best points to hook my chain when I lift the engine. Thanks in advance, Jim

You can install eyelet studs into some of the spare holes in the timing cover (use a leveler), or, just loop it around the upper alternator bracket. Alternator bracket should hold up fine, mine did without bending or flexing at all.

Remove the alternator and full intake (plenum, tb, manifold).

You'll notice two screw holes inside. The one closest to the front is on the driver's side, and the rear one is on the passenger's side.

At least this is how it was on the 98 GT engine.

Please let us know how it turns out!

I always run a chain around the engine mounts (between the block and the mount) then up either side of the engine to my leveler... then a small strap around the harmonic damper up to the hook on the lift so the engine doesnt rock around.

I would never trust a horizontal stud or bolt with my car or engine...

Thanks for the advice guys. I got it lifted and set back down in the new cradle with no problems. Just got the car back from the frame shop this week, and now its time to start gathering up some parts. Luckily for me a new all Mustang salvage yard just opened up near my house, and my buddy runs it!

I used the two studs on the front of the engine, but I only had to lift it about an inch, and only for a few minutes until I put the new cradle in place. Also, the trans mount was still in place.
