I'm getting ready to do my frist oil change on my 5.0.. I always use Mobile 1 on all my cars, and ive been reading alot of posts that FL1A filters are great for these cars.. What brand are they, and does any auto parts store have them in stock?

thats a good tip but how do you know that for sure?

Mobil 1 did a comparison and had the results posted on there website a few years ago. They had them together and said they were the same.

For anybody that doesn't already know, The fl1a is marketed as a motorcraft filter but it is actually a pureolator pure 1 filter painted differantly.

and a ferrari is just a honda in a different wrapper...

Heck the FL-1A may very well be made about 30 minutes south of me in Albion Illinois at a place called Champion Laboratories. They make oil filters and depending on whose contract they have at the time, could probably be making the ones for Ford, or Autozone, etc.

I always use a FL-1A, mainly because I have the socket that fits it already and don't like dealing with adjustable oil filter wrenches. I also use valvoline oil, but that can be a greater question that everyone would have an opinion on.
