I got mine, brand new, from Southern Rods & Parts after seeing an ad in Street Rodder magazine. $90/pr, OEM quality (maybe nicer). Here's the link: Southern Rods . If you don't see then online, give them a call. Great customer service too.

BTW, I also got all my a/c stuff there. New compressor, mount, condenser, hose kit, drier, electric fan w/adjustable thermostat, etc. Pretty reasonably priced too.

I got mine from Southern Rods & Parts as well, great quality, relatively inexpensive, and very easy to install. I would definitely get them from these guys.

I'd recommend junkyards, especially if you have hard points already or are competent with a tap and die set. You can get basically new 3 pt system from most any newer car in most any color from a junkyard very cheaply.

Skywalker, what did you ever do about the rim clearance problem you were having with your Wilwood calipers. Did you get a wheel or grind? Sorry for the hijack, I was curious.

Ahh! I knew someone would eventually ask!

PoliceInterceptor gave me some NICE Toyo 15 inch tires for free! My mom (yay for mom financing us poor college students haha) loaned me the cash to go buy some 15" American Racing AR23s (Actually she was willing to loan me whatever money I needed up to about $500, I jus thappened to like the AR23s.) The tires are a little small for the cars ride height (well I think so, other people think they look good) but they fit and that's all that matters.

Now for the irony of all ironies though? With all that crap (and all that phone calls I made trying to find a set of rims on the cheap)...it rained for the next several days making it impossible for me to get the work finished on the car (I currently have no garage) making it all for not! Oh well, I had to work alot for a couple weeks after that so I'm STILL trying to get the car back on the road after having not driven it for almsot 2 months now.

For me, it's been a big battle with the weather. If I'm not working (whether at the base or elsewhere) or at school it has been raining. In fact I was out earlier today came in to get something to drink and went back out to find it raining haha! This was not 15 minutes after the weatherman on the radio had said that it was be clear and sunny all day. My family is convinced someone is doing a rain dance just to piss me off!

But yeah, issue solved. I got some rims I like, and they clear the brakes with room to spare and the car is almost back on the road. I can not say how glad I am that I didn't grind them and I don't think I would have brought myself to do it anyhow...to much money on the brakes to do that.

I can't figure it out, the three point harnesses in va mustang and mustangs unlimited are $239 bucks. But the ones on southern rods is 90 bucks. At first this sounds like a rip off for the southern rod version. Has anyone used that harness. Is it better than the va mustang harness? If i can get someone to tell me that the 90 dollar harness not only looks good but feels good i will go with it

I'm surprised. Here in Minnesota, you can't buy seatbelts in a junkyard. I think it's a liability thing.

I opted for the Andover. I compared the Andover belt with the Southern Rods belt and decided that the Andover was a better looking set up. In particular, I did not like the look of the Southern Rods retractor housing. It looked cheap. Now I am sure that they both perform equally well, but I am upgrading my interior to a new hanline instrument panel, new carpet, new Mach I seat buns, and new Mach I comfort weave upolstory. I was prepared to spend $219 at VA mustang so with the Andover system costing $170, I felt like I got a deal. I am not unmindful of the fact that it is 2x more than the Southern Rods harness. Still, I was thinking ahead to when my car is completely done and I picutred the Southern Rods harness in the car. Next to all the interior upgrades I have planned, I felt that it might look out of place.

I used the setup from Southern rods and really like it. The inertia real is a little bulky. It is about the size of two boxes that soap comes in put together. Weird analogy, but when I though of the size that is what I came up with. However, the reel mounts behind both seat towards the rocker panel. There is an oval hole in the floor, a drain plug or something, that I mounted mine. I did no drilling, fabricating, or rigging to get this piece in. I have not seen the Andover setup or the piece from VA Mustang, but honestly, it is a 3 pt seat belt system. They all have the same components so I don't really understand where the $100 dollar price difference comes from.

the only seatbelts I found were for $45 on southen rods. So if ya'll are talking about 2 then yes its $90. But doesnt that sound a little cheap compared to most seatbelt kits?

Also how do you fasten the belts from Southern Rods. The bolt is on the tranny tunnel...but the part of the seat belt from souther rods that fastens on the right side can only face the wrong direction. Did ya'll that have them just mount that part of the seat belt upside down or what?

Hey, feel free to spend more if it makes you feel better... I'm not quite sure why so many Mustang kits are so expensive, when kits like this from Southern Rods and others are half as much. Hell, a "name brand" company like Andover is $50 cheaper than most Mustang suppliers. I think it has a lot to do with putting the Mustang name on stuff and marking it up extra because of it.

I haven't completed the install of my kit from Southern Rods, but I'm not anticipating any problems. I think the attachment concern you mentioned can be resolved by either removing the belt from the sheath, or removing it from the sheath and putting it back in so the button is on the correct side. Does that make sense?

This is how I did mine. There is factory hole in back of my front seats. It is oval in shape. The kit came with a thick piece of steel to bolt through this onto the inertia reel. After that is mounted, on the inside edge of my roof where the drip rail is on the interior of the car there is a bolt that screws into their. I mounted the pivot point there. Then the actual latch goes onto the trans tunnel.

Keep in mind I had a shoulder belt that came stock with my 68, so install is easier.

Probably. Georgia has...I don't knwo whether to call it more conservative or more liberal laws. For instance Georgia is right to hire, right to fire state and I don't think minnesota is (that's where your boss can fire you because he doesn't like the shape of your nose hairs and without notice or severance beyond earning prior to being let go - believe me I've put it to good use.)

So things like that fly a little easier here than in your neck of the woods. I believe Wisconsin ahs that same issue.
