I'm new to all the classic car building but I have sixbanger 65 that I'm dropping a 302 in and I don't think the rear end will hold up...long. Also which gears would be best for a summer daily driver, with t-5 but to get good torque as well? SO....where do you guys get your rears, not the ones on the corner in skirts either :D

Donor cars for 8 or 9in rear end

Check Mustangs 65-66, Mavericks, Comets, Fairlanes,Monarchs, Grenadas, & Versallis. It would be a good time to think about adapting a 8.8 w/ discs, check around the net, there are several ways of doing this swap.
Gearing ? 3.75 should be a good all around ratio.

65 2+2 EFI 5.0 AOD, 8in 3.25 (lower would be better)

mdjay, sorry even "Classic Talk" does not want that kind of attitude.

You might want to go on a search for one of them foreign forums where they type with their arms crossed and their hats just about as bad.

And, by the way, at my age there is no room to do what you suggest. It is called dealing with life. I realize that sounds stupid at your age but one day perhaps you will understand.

Nick, that is a pretty good price for the rear end.

Well Histordick

I have enjoyed most of your posts up until your personal attack on me. I have built many cars using the techniques you support. I actually feel most are good budget minded solutions.

Most of the time, the tech questions people inquire about are questions that have been asked 20 times and don't really care to beat the old dog 'til it's dead. I can rest assure you'll jump right in with your bias close minded point of view and add your 2 cents.

The problem I tend to run into is I sell most of the products on both sides of most arguments so I get caught protecting my suppliers. Yes, both sides!

I keep an open mind and I offer plenty of good advice for the questions that I have time, or care to answer. It appears you have a little more time on your hands than I do to make enemies around here.

PS I do enjoy the "Talk Section" here!!!

Personally I come down on Historic's side, I didn't see ANYTHING nasty or off beat about what he posted. On the other hand mdjay was WAY off base with his foul language. I think the moderator needs to give him a time out. :notnice: If mdjay treats the customers like he did Historic, he wouldn't be in business long. He sounds just like one such "businessman" I dealt with on ebay from the northwest, VERY nasty person when things didn't go his way or you tried to get him to supply shipping info on a product I had purchased.

Why is it every time I post something it gets off center and carried away :bang: Anyway, would I need a 9 for street strip purposes on a daily summer driver?

Unless you are planning a 400 horsepower monster moter with slicks in the rear....an 8 inch should be just fine.

IMO anything under 350 at the back tire with an auto is fine for an 8....300 if you have a stick. But that's just an opinion ;)
