where to get hood blanket?

I like that Mustang on the liner. I think that's where I got mine. Amazing how something as simple as the hood liner can make a huge difference when you open the hood to show someone. Before, some %^&* squirrels ruined the %^&* out of mine and made it look like total %^&*.

IMHO, one of the best appearance mods for the money that I did. Well, that and a new Ford emblem for the nose.

Junkyard, however the ones that I get in are pretty rough. Try Mustang Parts & Accessories - 50resto. I know they have them, I bet the frieght is outrageous though.

I removed mine 4 hrs. after I bought the car in 1990 ( lol ) and never looked back (since the car is black they did a good job at ford painting it .As far as I am concerned all it does is collect dust and shake it down on your engine .Every time I pop the hood I just give it a quick wipe down above .

One of the reasons the hood liner is there for insulation, it keeps the hood paint from gradually changing color because of engine heat. It acts as a sound deadener too, (but we dont care about that) when I drove my car around the block with no hood I set off car alarms, and I dont have a super loud exhaust either.

My paint is fine ,but you see how many mile my stang has ! And yes it's louder (to bad we can't hook a megaphone under there .lol Another reason why ford put it there was for fire suppresion ,in the event you had a engine fire .(premise was if you did ,you just slam the hood down to attempt to put the fire out ) In 33 yrs of owning 5 mustangs ,and 18 of owning this one ,never needed it .

The only reason that it is there is for noise reduction. There's not enough heat generated to affect the paint on the hood and the pad itself is actually flammable.

I'm glad you posted that becuase I was going to post and ask. My car doesn't have it installed but I have it in the building in storage. I was thinking about getting it out to see what kind of condition it's in and installing it again. Since it's made for under hood heat I'm guessing it's somewhat resistant to it but does anyone think the turbo exhaust housing could catch it on fire/burn it/melt it(whatever the hell it would do, lol)?
