Alright I got some gauges to put in my 89,I hooked the oil pressure gauge up and started with the water temp gauge, well I have run into a snag, the hole that holds the plug for the stock gauge is to small for the new one,,anyone got a pic of where the end of this gauge fits into the stock manifold???do I have to re tap the hole on the right side of the manifold to make it bigger???or is here somewhere else I can plug in the thermostat end?????Thanks

You don't give info about the gauge, but it sounds like a mechanical gauge. You'd use an adapter to make it work (mech gauges generally require an adapter to hold the probe in place anyhow). The stock sending unit hole is 3/8" NPT IIRC. You will want to put your aftermarket gauge's sending unit in the stock location however - it's worth the extra effort to make it happen.

Then relocate the POS stock gauge's sending unit elsewhere (anywhere - it doesnt really even matter. :rlaugh: ).

Good luck.

Drill out the blank spot on the T-stat housing. I did this for my fan switch.

Allen, I think he's installing a temp gauge. For your fan, the stat housing works alright. If the stat sticks closed, the fan being on or off doesnt matter much. However, for a gauge, if the stat stuck closed, the reading would be real slow to reflect what happened.
