Where'd Ya Get Your Kenne Bell

I got mine directly from KB, bought it online and everything was delivered, nothing missing and packaged very well. If you know exactly what you want do it online, otherwise give them a call - ask for Vic - and he will sort you out! I have had mine for three years now and it is my daily driver year round, works like a charm!

KB's for 5.0s arnt that great actually

KB's earned their reputation from their sucess on the 4.6's. They were good because the 4.6's have good top end, but not much down low and the KB's made up for this and turned the 4.6 into an awesome motor.

On the 5.0 however, 5.0s are torque motors, so its like your fixing a problem that isnt there. Theres a reason cent blowers are so popular on 5.0s and KB so popular on 4.6's......cent = top end power, KB = low end power.

I met a guy with a KB 5.0 and I wasnt impressed at all, mostly by the fact that theirs no whine.

Kenne Bell has been around and producing blowers WAAAAAAAAAAY before the 4.6 even became a concept. If your buddy's KB was a 1.5L then I can somewhat understand why it might lack some lustre. When you pull up to a stop light next to a fairly docile sounding Fox and get your ass handed to you while you're awaiting foost boost from a centrifugal or single turbo then it's a safe bet that you've just been waxed by a KB. It's true that KB are notorious torque monsters. I generate 371 ft/lbs to the wheels at just 2300 RPM. Peak torque occurs at roughly 3200 to 3500 RPM where the HP starts to take over. With my stock bottom end and less than ideal heads and cam, my peak HP occurs between 4500 and 5000 RPM. Nice range to shift in, even in the event that shifting (for whatever reason) ends up being a little sloppy. The moral of this story is not which combo will win on the dyno but how you intend to use your car and how much usable total power you'd like to have.

On a dyno... My torque curve closely resembles something like this:

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I look forward to seeing what the end results are once the current engine combo is removed in favor of a Stroker with some nice heads and custom cam (currently under way).

I should also mention that what I've gotten so far has been from just 7 lbs of boost from a Blowzilla over the top of a GT40 lower.

Aliate, I appreciate your comments but I guess it all depends on what you want - if you are going racing then stick with a centrifugal SC like Paxton or Vortech - but for a daily driver I still think the KB supercharger is the best solution! And, man, without being argumentative I do belive that KB made their reputation from the turbo Buicks years ago and then the twin-screw SC for the 5.0 - but you do have a point re torque and top end. Anyhow, I love the torque on my little 5.0 hatch!

An intercooled KB on a 5oh... Hmmmmm....

I LOVE how so many people believe centrifugal are better because they produce more hpower than twin screw. ARE YOU KIDDING!!!! LS1 < my 331 I remember the last LS1 i raced told me that he will **** on my ford. :owned:

Ok is that a real picture or is that photoshop? If it's real how does it work? I'm building my fox to road course tolerances and am planning on a turbo or s/c setup but haven't quite decided yet. I'm really leaning towards KB but would a KB, Vortech/Paxton, or turbo setup be better for a road race car? Oh and I plan on eventually racing this car when I move to Arizona.

mmmm thats sexy :nice:

Anyway imho a kb is a good way to go with a daily driver. The IMPORTANT thing is that you combo is matched to work with the FI method that you choose. Anything will work well with a properly matched combo.
