I know the topic of heads is discussed frequently enough, but here's another one. I'm going to do a H/C/I swap this summer and after browsing through, the forum, it looks as though the AFR Head/FTI Cam/Edel Intake is probably the best way to go.

My plans for the car are to go ahead and do the HCI swap, then supercharge, then rebuild (forged, of course) once necessary. The engine is a stock 5.0L with 86K miles.

I've got several questions regarding the parts and the swap itself.

1) On the AFR165 heads, if emissions doesn't matter in my state, should I go with emissions legal or non-emissions legal? Stud mount or pedestal? Also, do I want 58cc or 61cc combustion chamber? OR should I go with the 185cc heads?

2) FTI = Flowtech Induction Systems?

3) On the Edelbrock intake, should I go with the Performer, the Performer RPM, or the Performer RPM2?

4) What else am I going to need when I do all this? [a list of current mods is below] (After looking at other threads, I added these to my list of things to buy: 24# fuel injectors, 70MM throttle body, TB to manifold adapter, fuel pump, new strut tower brace, Walbro 255 lph fuel pump, possibly computer?)

My Current Mods:
Ford 1 5/8 Unequal shorty headers, MAC off-road H pipe, Flowmaster Cat-back, 3.73 gears, Ford Aluminum DS, Pro3I rear lower control arms, KB subframes, Eibach springs, KYB shocks/struts, C&L 76mm MAF system

1) 165's for a 302. I would go with the emissions legal heads and then just plug the smog holes if you're not keeping emissions equipment. Stud mount. 58cc if you're staying N/A.

2) www.flowtechinduction.com

3) Talk to Ed Curtis at FTI and see what your goals are for the car.

4) Chip or tuning device, hardened pushrods (if you get stud mount heads), new lifters, new timing chain, 1.6 roller rockers (if you get stud mount heads), MAF calibrated for 24# injectors, head gaskets, valve cover gaskets, intake manifold gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, timing cover gasket, and other miiscellaneous stuff.

Edelbrock rpm 2 intake is a great intake I have the older performer and am going with the rpm 2 when I get the time to put it on. also dont forget to port match the elbow to your t body and upper intake opening, save the time now.

Good plan but with HCI and a blower I would consider a sportsman block or the R302 block. Stock blocks are only good to 500 fwhp safely. You dont want that to be your weak link. If you gonna do some high rpm use I would go with stud mount heads and if your getting a blower the 185 heads w/ low comp pistons would be best. RedSnk95 runs pretty much this setup so talk to him about it. Oh and He has a T-trim and runs a 11.4 on DR's. Thats not bad...hes easily got a 10 sec daily driver on slicks.....

Isn't the recommended Edelbrock stuff (i.e. Elbow and TB) already port matched to the upper intake manifold?
