im wondering whats a good cam for our models. reason is because im planning on ordering a cam in the future. i was thinking about a b303 cam but what i searched is that the EEC wont work as well w/o any tuning. but steeda #19 cam is a good option. whats the difference between these 2 cams? we all have the same motor.
 
If you're gonna run a motorsport cam use the E303, not the B. The E is pretty lopey as it is, the B will have some pretty serious idle issues without some good tuning. The steeda 19 is pretty conservative and should work great, good idle quality and driveability w/o tuning and it will probably not be very difficult to get it idling properly once installed. I have heard of some people that have issues with their E303 cams when it comes to idle quality, mostly surging at idle, it is pretty difficult to set idle proplerly, but if you do it right it will work just fine, I dont have surging issues, sounds good, runs like a raped ape.

B-303, Stg 1, E-303, #19, #18, X-303 cams will work OK with the SN95 EEC when installed and calibrated correctly, w/out a tune....... BTSTDT plenty of times. You do need to avoid taking any shortcuts, or expect anything to be bolt-on.... need to set/upgrade the valve train, need to check geometry, need to check and install the correct PR length, need to ensure lifters preload is not excessive, need to make sure there are no EEC failure codes that need to be fixed, etc, etc.........

Your best alternative though, is either a custom cam or an OTS cam selected, based on your combo configuration. No guessing involved.
 
A cam is a waste of time on stock heads. If anything, you will probably lose power. In my opinion, Motorsport cams are noise cams. They make the engine sound nice, but that's about it. I think the Steeda #19 cam is great. There is also the Trick Flow Stage 1 cam, which is about the same, and goes for like $149. It's a good deal.

i have the basic mods. cai,pulleys,headers,hpipe and 373 gears. i like the E303 cam. in the other hand, you wont feel the full potential with stock heads.

Why don't you retard the stock cam 4 degrees and spin a couple hundred RPM higher while you save up money for a heads / cam / intake package. A cam swap at this point will get you like 10 horse, and even though the cam will only cost 150 bones, you'll at least double it in terms of gaskets, liquids, and all the other little things.

Plus its a PITA to pull all the stock stuff, stick in a cam, get a crappy idle and barely any more power, then put all the stock stuff back on. I totally agree with Brewtus above: letter cams are basically noise cams. The Steeda 19 cam is alright but it idles well because its short on power. Any can worth the effort to install will require a tune.

My 2 cents is that your next modification should be an intake manifold. That plus retarding the stock cam will put you into the 13s.

The Steeda #18 is a better cam than the #19 in my opinion. The difference between a 112 lobe sep and a 114 lobe sep makes all the difference. It doesn't idle as nice, but you can generally get it to work ok.

I would also advise you to keep the stock cam until you've decided which heads/intake combination you'd like next. The more relevant question is where in the rpm range would you like to have maximum torque and what's the maximum rpm you're likely to use?
If low rpm torque is important to you for street use, you'll require a different H/C/I combination from a higher rpm combination that's more suited to the track.

but you cant compare a 1.6 motor to a 5.0

Even has a tutorial video. And when you do put in a new camshaft, this is required tooling anyway.
