I have used two Spec clutches and have had good results with them. I am about to buy another Spec to install in my DD DSM. (Spec Is and Spec IIs)

i have driven 3 cars with a spec clutch : a terminator, 94 gt and a 96 gt. i HATED driving each one of them simply because of the clutch. its all or nothing, theres no slipping it. and its STIFF. i realize its somewhat made to be this way, being a higher hp clutch, but i just dont like them.

+1.

Stock power level, or bolt on/cams, 230-300rwhp, you should be fine. But I have videos to prove the carnage that Spec clutches can cause at the track. Plus, the pedal will not feel stock anymore. However, the 8.8 is stronger than what I have. The only spec I like, and have driven, is their twin disk.

If you go up to a 3 or more, you don't need to do squats, leg presses/etc on your left leg if you drive your car a lot. The clutch will do it for you.

The best clutch I have ever had was a Centerforce dual friction. There is no way I would ever put a stock replacement clutch in a car w/ full bolt on's that's about to get boosted. As far as Spec's go, it all depends on what series you get. I have a friend that is running a Spec 2 and it's super smooth. But I also have a friend with a Spec 3 (puck style) and it's horrible. Just be sure and dont get "to much" clutch. If you are making 400rwhp and get a clutch rated for 700rwhp, you will actually over clutch your car and will more than likely break an input shaft or axle.

MMR makes a BTF450. A friend of mine has that in his car and it's super smooth and pedal feel is stock.

Why not give a shout to Bill Putnam, first 11 second bolt on/cam car, who now works for UPR and ask him about it. Better yet, I'll link him to this thread and let him explain who all has used their parts. You really do have a crappy attitude.

Guess it all started when you started calling people with fire extinguishers "ricers" years ago.

I am using a Centerforce dual friction clutch also. Pedal pressure is basically like stock. It is holding up to my nitrous launches and power shifts very nicely.

On the other hand, I had a Valeo stock replacement clutch in there before the Centerforce and it worked great for 2+ years with my nitrous. Towards the end, it started to slip a bit on the shifts, but it wasn't anything terrible.

So basically, it boils down to how much power you plan to throw at the clutch. The stock replacements are pretty stout, if you drive the car properly and don't abuse the clutch.

Lol, Handz....go make another thread about washing your car and let the big boys talk.

Speaking of since UPR holds lots of records with their suspension, I would bet it's safe to say they are outstanding products. I have ran them on many vehicles and know many people using them. Never had anything but positive reviews on them.

Money is getting tight during this trans swap. I'm considering the RAM HDX clutch. $250. Good reviews on amercian muscle... Hopefully it wouldnt have too hard a pedal feel. Anyone tried it?

WOW better get that ***** off my turbo car that I drive every day and running deep in the 11s with, also havent had any issues before I kill myself.

Also I would say if your running N/A to go with the centerforce DF, its an easy clutch to push in and also holds about 350rwhp...

You're always complaining about UPR parts. In fact, UPR staff has even come on SN defending their parts on at least one occasion. Give it a rest Handz. Many people on this forum run their parts and I have yet to hear of an issue other than yours which was likely an install issue anyways. Hell 98Cobra281 is one of the fastest, if not the fastest, NPI headed N/A car out there right now and he runs nothing but UPR stuff. I haven't heard of him having any troubles, have you?

Here's the thread where UPR came on and replied to your posts:
