Which Cobra is Better 99-02 Or 03-04

I am looking at buying a cobra but I am not sure which one I know that I could get a 99-02 alot cheapier then a 03-04 but I was wondering if the set up of the 99-02 cobra is good to push around 500-600hp. Because I have heard the 03-04 can with no problem. Because the money I save on buying an older cobra i could get more upgrades. Thanks

uhm well for a base car the 02-04 is 390hp 390 TQ and 3665lbs which it saweet, the 99-02 is 320hp 317TQ and 3430lbs. But if your going the project car route and u can save a good amount of money Id go w/ the 99-02 and slap your own SC on it...possibly even a turbo?

well what makes the 03-04 cobras motors push out all that power is due to the forged btoom end and low compresion which is 8.5:1, the 99-01' cobras have a higher compression ratio of 10.X : 1 or higher i cant remember but you would have to forge the bottom end on these. Another thing is pricing the 03-04's are still quite up on price.........and there was no 02' Cobra int he states only in australia

i would go with the 03/04. For about 2k on top of the purchase price, you can have 500hp. With a 99/01 cobra, you need to forge the bottom and add boost along with all the supporting fuel mods and what not. After all that, your prolly at the price of an 03/04 and you have a completely modified car rather than a fairly stock car.

Listen to this man. He speaks the truth. 03/04 cobra all the way and mod from there. Its a better platform to work from.

While the 03/04 are great because they are already forged and boost friendly, they are not infallible. Some have cooling problems which create hot spots on 2 cylinders, others have valve tick issues, and they're a bit heavier than the 99/01s. Don't get me wrong though, they are absolutely beastly and I would love to own one, and I am not knocking them in any way.

Personally, I would also like to have an 01 that I built up by myself that can run with the 03/04s. When I throw down the money for the 01, I can pay it off faster than the more expensive 03/04, which is somewhat of a deciding factor to me. Also, assuming you forge the motor and try to maintain a stockish compression ratio (9.85:1), you will make more power w/ boost than an 03/04 running the same #s. MPH built a twin-turbo 01 cobra motor and had well over 700hp to the ground through a built auto! (I believe the motor was actually planted in a Bullitt)

Hey, either way you decide, you're going to love your car. Good luck! And please to all you Terminator owners, don't send a lynch party my way

02 ftw
