Just thinking here. Which do you think would weight less.

An 351 fuel injected setup with Al heads, Cobra intake and all other relataed fuel injectior gizmos with a T-56. No smog pump, A/C or P/S

Or

A 96-98 Cobra Alumunum block/headed 4.6L DOHC with a T-56?? No A/C but P/S would remain to run hydroboosted brakes. Also, would be installed with aftermarket k-member for 4.6L engine

Think it's close enough not to really matter?

I guess you could find the dry weights of the engine combos, and find what each transmission weighs...

T5's weigh around 80lbs I believe...

I'm sure D&D would know the weight of a t56, which would be more...

Some info:

4.6-liter SOHC and DOHC
Aluminum block weight (bare): 86 lbs.
Iron block weight (bare): 154 lbs.
Assembled cylinder head weight: 44 lbs.*
Displacement: 4.6 liters/281 cubic inches
Bore: 3.552 inches
Stroke: 3.543 inches
Bore spacing: 3.937 inches
Main journal dia.: 2.657 inches
Rod journal dia.: 2.086 inches
Rod length: 5.933 inches
Deck height: 8.937 inches
*Assembled 302 iron head weighs approx. 55 lbs.

I know the beefier R302 block, if I recall weighs around 160lbs.

I think the 4.6 DOHC will be lighter:)
