Which is better Vortech or Paxton?

i dont know anything about paxton, most people just go with vortech, maybe its cheaper or something, or it might just be better, i would say get a new engine to tell u the truth to have a good foundation for the supercharger if u have a strong engine it should be fine but if its old and weak its useless to get a supercharger if it will die in a year

they are the same company now. I like the Vortech's but I think the Paxtons are a better quality kit....barely. There is not a whole lot of difference. The Vortech kits seem to be a couple of hundred bucks cheaper. I don't think that you can go wrong either way.

I have an stock 89 5.0, the only upgrades are cold and mass air, underdrives, 24# injectors. I want to put a supercharger on it and would like some input on which is a better charger for my application. Vortech or Paxton.
Thanx for the info.

neither go turbo i have a paxton sc and if inew i would only beable to get 14psi max i wouldnt of done it

Paxton is way better. But before you call me biased, consider that I was this close | | to buying an SC trim. I was ready to place my order and then luckily some Paxton guys told me to at least read up on them before I made my choice. So I went up and started reading and found a few things out. Vortech and Paxton are the same company and are built with the exact same quality. Comparing the SC trim kit to the NOVI 1000 kit, the N1k kit has several features that the SC kit does not: 1/2 thick blower bracket (vs SC trims 3/8"), 8 rib blower pulley and an aluminum hardpipe. This means if you want to boost 10 psi, all youll need is a new crank pulley and bypass valve. With the Vortech kit youll need to convert both pulleys over, get a custom discharge tube because that plastic stock one aint good for crap, and hope that it wont slip with that weak blower bracket. Most guys end up having to buy blower braces, but not with the Paxton. Powerwise, the SC trim and N1k have been proven to be equal to one another. Ive seen both put out in the 500rwhp range.

Comparing a Vortech S trim vs a NOVI 2000 is just sad. The NOVI 2000 is simply the baddest blower you can get for a street car, and needless to say blows (pun intended) the S trim away. The blower brackets and reinforcements are just rediculous, find a pic and youll instantly see what I mean. The N2k comes with a 10 rib setup and will supply up to 1000 HP, yet will provide awesome power and streetability at the 8 psi that it comes with. The S trim is weak in comparison. The kit is very similar to a N1k kit with the exception that it puts out about 100+ more rwhp. Pricing wise, they are they are all the same. Ive seen N1ks and SC trims both for $1600, and Ive seen N2ks and S trims both for $2600. The reason people buy Vortech is because of the name, thats it. Oh and Im sure you have a better chance of getting a used deal, since theres more of them out there.

I think the new paxtons are pretty competitive with vortechs. The old paxtons were junk compared to the vortechs, which still have pretty much the same design. I love my vortech.

A friend of mine had the electirc oil pump on his paxton die, and therefore seized the blower, so he got a V-1 A-trim, and he said it's much better.

I agree, I think I would buy a Vortech mainly because of the name... It just sounds powerful and aggressive...

For 200 bucks you can buy the vortech aluminum discharge tube and bypass valve kit to upgrade for larger boost applications. Thats basically what I did I spent $1,600 on a vortech V-1-SC, sold my pipeing I didn't need on ebay for 100 bucks (discharge tube, inlet tube, heat shield and filter), bought the upgraded discharge tube and bypass for 200 and bought a powerpipe from upr for 99 bux.

So for $1,799 I have a 9lb Vortech Supercharger. I basically choose vortech for price and there 3 year warranty. I all most went with a self contained like powerdyne aka crap or a procharger aka way to over priced. But when it all came down to it I choose vortech

stop smoking drugs, the Paxton Novi 2000 is capible of up to 19 PSI and 600 RWHP is very easy to achive w/ this blower. You must have the Novi 1000 and 14 PSI out of that blower is very good. Its your own fault if you wanted Novi 2000 Performance and you got a 1000 insted.


I have a Paxton Novi 200 and so far its been a great blower. Paxton and Vortech are very close as far as quality and performance. I went w/ paxton b/c I see so many 5.0's w/ vortechs on them.

Theres a saying that goes w/ the Paxton Novi 2000..... If your looking to make alot of power, its the first and last blower you will need.

lol I never though of that. Just for the record I dont smoke pot or any drugs for that matter but Towely is a running joke in our Mustang club, hes like our offical Mascot

Im aware of what a Vortech needs to have the boost raised. For the N1k you can just buy a powerpipe for $99 and have the same results. Like I said Vortech/Paxton are the same company, so its not like the 3 year warranty is exclusive to Vortech users. I have that waranty too.

I really dont care what SOUNDS more agressive by name, i want one that IS more aggressive by power.

Were going back to the dyno on the 31st and if I have solved my slipping clutch problem by that time then I'll show you what a Novi 2000 can do on stock heads and cam. My SPEC II Clutch is still slipping, I have an adustible clutch quadrent now and if that doesnt fix it then it must be the flywheel, I heard that the NAPA shop that I had it resurfaced at has had problems w/ there resurfacing machine.

Well if you want to talk about best hands down, then ProCharger by far has THE NICEST kits available for our cars. I support Vortech, they make a great product,I have used the S-trim for 2 yrs now without any problems, and the Novi 2000 is a wicked blower as well. But Pro Charger.....MMMMMMMMM
