Which Long Tubes to Buy?

What's up guys? I'm going to be purchasing long tubes late Spring or early Summer. I should be able to spend in upwards of $700. I'm not really trying to go any higher than that though. What are some good headers to consider buying? Eventually I am going to supercharge my car. Also my Mustang is lowered 2", just in case clearance would come into play. Let me know your opinions from those of you who have them. I've looked at the MAC and BBK's. I've also checked out the SLP's, but they're pretty expensive. There's also a dealer around here who sells Hedman. Thanks for the info.

im getting bbk ceramic coated this xmas, they cost around 400$ and they are really nice for the money you spend

i know hedmans are pretty inexpensive and from what ive heard flowtechs are the same design as hookers and they are a lot more inexpensive, good design too

slp makes really headers but they are pricy and supposedly kooks are the best headers money can buy but there again they cost upwards of 700$

I payed 75 for my used Macs and 125 for my h pipe new. reused the gaskets and bolts. So besides my time it cost me 200.

For the price range that you are looking at look at Kooks or Hooker. Kooks are the best header on the market hands down. I love the hookers on my car though.

kooks is only 25 mins from my house.

i run mac lt's. Fitment is great and can still pull the tranny to swap out the clutch etc. I got a pair of used uncoated mac's. They are a little rusty by the collector but you'll never rust through and you wont see the lts unless your on the ground. You can always go and get ceramic, i didnt cause my car isnt a show car. Mac is the best for the price

only make midlengths and on 2v's i know 2 peopel who had problems with the floorboards and 1 that didnt have a problem at all. I'm a fan of bassani but for the price wouldnt take the chance

what is the big difference from mac's lt's to bbk to slp as far as power is concerned. i dont care about how they look, but how much more power would the "best" ones make from the "worst". i see that mac's are the cheapest out there, but im very imrpessed with mac as far as my catback and prochamber. how do their lt's hold up?

my macs have been on the car for almost a year and the guy i bought them from had them on his car for 2 years. No problems or leaks here.
As far as power they are all basicly the same. Only one i can say i've seen put down very impressive power gains is kooks. A guy i know went from mac lt's to kooks new design and picked up a decent amount. Forgot the exact numbers it was around 6hp and 14 ft/lbs...however the headers and xpipe were over 1200. Macs and bbk i would say equal power slp maybe 2 or 3 more hp

i guess im wondering why, cause the tubing is all the same diameter right? must be in the bends and curves. im looking into mac's myself eventually, cause mac's stuff is cheap good quaility and sounds great.

Anybody know if any of the mags have done lt comparisons with dyno results? Currently I have MAC O/R H and MAC catback. If the more reasonable headers perform well, i'll just go with a set of them. I do want ceramic coated though. I'm going to try to have the lt's and 3.73's installed at the same time, so that should be a nice difference.

$770 for the headers. Great quality, cheaper than Kooks. American Racing is also developing LT's for our cars, MPH is working with them.

Kooks, and SLP would be my first choices. However, you said $700 and under. Summit has Hooker l/ts in thier catalog for around $550..I dont know why more people dont use Hooker..They've been around for ages

i got flowtechs now and they leak i think the flange is warped, and i hate the slip fit on the d/s that the steering shaft goes through. hookers are the same way as the flowtechs. i have a pair of bbk that i bought waiting to go on this weekened. if i had the money i would have gone with stainlessworks. My friend has the kooks and they hang way to low he hits all the time.

if they are, thats great news. I just read today over on MPH that they are testing a set of American racing LT's on a 2V. They are not listed on AR's web-site yet, Im curious of the pricing compared to Kooks and Stainless Works.
