I was driving last night and the car would stutter under light throttle just cruising. Nothing big, but it was like the motor had terets.
So I was checking everything today, the dizzy's good, cap and rotor are good, all plugs wires are tight. I pulled the plugs and they're about ready to be changed, so I'm sure that's part of it and the coil was all white and corroded, so I cleaned it off and that helped a little but it still does it.

My question is who's coils have y'all bought that last? I upgraded to an MSD cap and rotor, new plug wires and MSD coil this summer, but with the underhood temps so high from the headers, it melted the gel center and separated the wires inside, so I took it back and had the same thing happen with an ACCEL coil. So I've got the original back on there for now, but with 141,000 miles, it's probably time to upgrade. Any suggestions? :SNSign:

My MSD coil melted, still have it around somewhere meaning to mail it in and see if I can get a new one under warranty.

Put a factory Ford coil back on.

If you have a Fox III coil wire (or some other long coil wire), you could move the coil elsewhere.

I havent had an issue like yours, so I cant comment on a severe duty coil (I've used stock, MSD and Crane).

I have had my accel on the car for 70k miles with no issues.

Is your car running lean or something to create that much header heat?

Yeah, my car is running lean because the previous owner never did get it tuned with the E-cam, so the comp is overcompensating for the false rich condition.

I thought about moving the coil elsewhere cuz I could feel the car run better with the MSD, but that's alot of hassle and I'm not sure where I would put it. I might try the MSD again and get some of that heat wrap to put around it
Or I'll just pick up a new replacement factory coil.
