What's a quick way to check that out just to make sure it is the problem? Just pull the wire and......?

Just make sure it isn't burnt through. You could also pull the plug and see if it's covered in fuel. It will be black and sooty if it is. If so, but you can't find anything wrong with the wire, switch that wire with another and then check that plug later on to see if it turns black too. If so, then the wire's probably teh problem.

You could also borrow one wire from a friend, put it on your car, start it up and see if that solved the problem.

I used live wires, they're ok, not worth the money in my opinion. Any problem Grady with the OEM wires, why don't you upgrade?

Well, since you asked, I reckon I'll give you my take on Modding Stangs.

I guess the main reason I still run them is due to a decision I made when I decided to get back in the Stang hobby after being out of it for a good bit of time.

I decided to only deal with things that would give the most performance gain for the amount of money spent.

I saw so many Stangs put down good numbers at the strip and dyno with the oem or stock ignition stuff. After I discovered that fact I reasoned that any upgrade to the ignition would have to take a back seat to other stuff that would help me more.

I've had no probs with those wires.

however

If they were causing a prob, I would replace them with something other than them.

I run NGKs and Livewires...

Grady has a point...Prior to wanting to replace all my ignition stuff I ran only McCarville tune-up kits for 4.5 yrs, even cooked a few on my headers..Never had an issue with the Ford parts...The coil wires kind of a pissser being 2' long...

i shortened all my wires including the coil wire. it is fairly easy to do and makes a world of difference as far as appearance goes.

I agree with you here Grady. I have OEM replacement wires, Autolite 3923's, and an MSD coil, which I probably didn't need. I've only ever had ignition issues when I put the blower on, and then itwas just blowing out the spark at higher boost numbers. I put the MSD on to fix it, but it didn't. Re-gapping the plugs down fixed it, but I never put the stock coil back on. Car runs fine. I SUPPOSE I could pick up some power with an ignition, but I'd never be able to tell as it overwhelms my street tires now. Besides, an MSD box doesn't do anything above 3000 rpm. Those multiple sparks are only at lower rpms. I figure the coil gives me the same benefit above 3000 rpm's.
I do wish I has another method of controlling RPM's though besides my Tweecer. That would probably be the main reason I put something on.
