6 of one............

The 94-95's have better brakes, chassis stiffening and suspension (stockish) IMHO. But because they were only around for two years (in 5.0L form) some parts tend to be a little pricey (ones that are specific to 94-95 motors). The factory tune is more finicky too (you can get away with a lot more on a fox without *needing* a tune).

It really depends upon what you want and what the car is going to be used for (I think 94-95's are better DD's, for example).

Good luck.

I'd go with 89. I think 94-98 mustangs look like Oldsmoble Alero's at first site and dont look like a V8 worthy car unless you do some appearance upgrades which will just cost more money. An 05 would be out the question cause its an american car and they will selling for $10000 or under in 2 years plus who wants to be fords guinnepig for a new designed car. Id have to say if Ford is consistant with anything its FK'N up keep it aftermarket. The 89 would be a solid choice but bad handling and braking. This could be solved with research and alittle money. Just my .2

Fox for the cheapness to workon / repair

For the other two for their better engineered systems
imo, that is why the 94/95 is the best. it still has the 5.0 so it is easy to work on and you have the option of going to a 331/347 stroker. or even a 351w based motor

but it has the other sn95 improvements too.

87-93: Easy to work on, parts are cheap, junk yards are full, light weight and quick on low end

94-95: Still have the 5.0, better brakes- BUT, H E A V Y and underpowered. Sorry, I call them like I see them

96-98: Non PI 4.6's. Great suspension/brakes. A little overweight still but modular and not as easy to work on

99+: Great cars in every aspect except working on them. PI Head 4.6- high end hp. Also heavy by my standards

Hope that helps :)

I chose the 87-93 as did most people in here for the ease of upgrading it. You can add the newer brakes and beef the suspension up

yeah, my buddies owned three sn-95, and we kokingly call them "the 4.6's of 5.0's " mostly because they're engine bay's are cramped and mods are more pricey like the 4.6's, but they are still a 5.0

If you want something cheap to work on, get a pinto. Otherwise, any of those Mustangs would be a good bet. Although, the 96-98 were the slowest of the slow due to some piss poor heads (excluding the Cobra).

I'd add that if you post the same question in each appropriate Talk sub-forum, you'll get plastered with replies favoring the choice that the posters' made (e.g., in 94-95 Talk, you'd hear that 94-95 is best). Ditto for the other sub-forums.

With used cars, I dont go on a given year as much as getting the best car I can find. When I picked up the 94, I had wanted a 94-95, but being scarce around here, I was open to another fox. I let what was available guide me a little bit.

Good luck.

The solution is to combine the best of both worlds. I have an 89GT and an 02GT. I love both. The 5.0 is ol skool with the pushrod power, while the 02 is more up to date with waaaay better handling and suspension and technology.

****** the 4.6 out of a 99-04 and throw in a pushrod V8. That's what i'm thinking about doing. Putting an A4 347 stroker block in my 02GT...:hail2:. No need for a KB 2.2, with all of that torque from a 347. I'll probably throw on a Novi 2000 for a little top end charge...:nice:
My in the garage combo for my 5.0 project consists of: TFS stage III heads, TFS stage 2 cam, TFS Trackheat intake, Mac LTs with 3' Prochamber, with an A4 block on the way, along with other go fast goodies. Now I'm thinking about just putting it in the 02....:D
