I ordered my 94-98 S281 spoiler from a Saleen distributor...and it's practically a rubber spoiler. But when I looked at my friend's S281 wing...it's a much harder material (like the stock spoiler), and ISN'T open underneath.

I am very dissatisfied with this rubber spoiler...so I was just curious as to how many of you out there have them? How many of you have the harder material? Where'd you get it and how much did you pay?

Just curious.

My spoiler on my 03 is urethene. So yes it is flexable. I remember on my 94 the spoiler was a harder material. I know Saleen has redone there molds hoping for better end results. Possibly they redid the materials as well?

is your friend's spoiler the same year of spoiler?

Mine was urethane/some kind of rubberized plastic type material. After you prep primer and then paint the wing, it will look a lot more glossy and a tiny bit more crisp. Thats how mine ended up.

Urethan.

Other then the fact its really rough out of box, they are really really high grade urethan. Just takes alot to prep it correctly

Kaenan makes the hard, better fitting model, that uses the o.e. holes like theo.e s281 wing did.

yup. same as mine. i too was dissapointed when i opened the box. mine was ****ty around the edges and is still ****ty after they did all they could. one of the metal bungs that sit inside the mold for the fastener to screw into portruded through the top of the wing.

if i had to do it all over again id get the 03/04 cobra spoiler.

Yeah, if I had a 99+, I'd have gotten the 03/04 Cobra wing as well.

My spoiler is at the shop right now getting painted. They said it was going to cost $175 due to the adhesive agent that they have to apply to get the paint to stick to the gay-rubber.

We'll see how it turns out by the end of this week.

And yes, my friend's spoiler was the same year (as in 94-98) as mine. His used all four stock mounting holes...so I can almost guarantee that it was not made by Saleen.

On a lighter note, UPS delivered my H&R Super Sport springs today I'm hopefully ordering the rest of my suspension on Thursday!

I think the early years of the s281 wings were made different. The earlier ones had 4 bolts, I had one of those straight from saleen...part number and saleen stamped underneath it.

I just sold my s281 94-98 wing from saleen. It was urethane but i didnt want to deal with all that had to be done to put it on. Plus im selling my car. It only had 2 bolts and the rest held on by double sided tape. And it was authentic ordered straight from saleen. BTW bad idea saleen quality FTL

I just went to the body shop and he is done sanding it, and he pointed out about 8 imperfections in the wing. Two lumps, two sinks, and a ton of chips! It's ridiculous how poor the quality is on these wings

Mark my words: I will never buy another authentic Saleen product in my life.

Mine is a Saleen 2 bolt...it wasn't in bad shape at all but the fact that i had to tape it down and use 80lb dumb bells on the corners to make the shape perfect sucked...i only hope that if i remove it the tape doesn't rip off the paint.

I've heard for the last eight years from many dissastisfied sources that Saleen products are absolute S$%T. That's the problem when something gets hyped by the magazines, and looks good in pictures. Those types of products build street credit without ever having earned it. I've got a buddy who dreamed of owning a Saleen ever since the S-351 days. In 04, he ordered a S-281SC in black with every option he'd ever wanted. From forty feet away, it looked like pure unbridled badass american iron. When you got up close, you saw one of the WORST paint jobs you could imagine. You could tell they used expensive paint because it refected more light than anything I'd ever seen, but it looked as though someone lacquered it on with a brush. Pieces of the ground effects weren't lined up, interior pieces were half ass installed, you could go on all day. Genuine Saleen is absolute crap, as is Coast High Performance, and a few other brands I've made expensive purchases from. A few won't be mentioned because I've gone so far as to meet with them in person and settle it. So, AMEN to the previous posts bashing Saleen. I wish more people knew.
