So the income tax checks are coming back really soon. What better way to blow some dough than on a new supercharger?? I'm having a hard time figuring out which one would do me the most good. I want to choose from 3 different ones and would just like a little advice on what you guys thought would be best.

The Vortech:

4fg218-020sq

Most expensive of the three, but the guy at Jeg's says it is completely safe to install on a mostly stock engine, as what the deal is with me.

Powerdynes:

k10177-101

Cheapest of all but I don't know if it is completely safe with a mostly stock engine. Pushs 6 psi.

k10176-101

The exact same thing as the 177 above but pushs out 9 psi.

As with future upgrades, I don't have anything that would be major within the next 2 or 3 years since I'm always broke and trying to finish up school. I'm doing a auto to 5sp swap next week as a Christmas present from mother (thanks mom). Other than that I will probably just get a bigger TB and possibly headers and intake. Mostly boltons until I hit the lottery.

Your guys responses would be great. Remember I want what is safest with the engine. I'm supercharging the system regardless. I'm personally leaning toward the Vortech right now because of my lack of knowledge on the powerdyne. I'll shut up now.

 Another question, will the T5 be able to hold up for that much torque. Vortech says on a stock engine with a Vortech supercharger pushs about 370lbs of torque. I'm not sure the year the T5 is simply because I haven't picked it up yet. I believe it is out of a 95 actually, but again unsure. Would I be safer just sticking with the AODE or the tranny swap. I'd rather have the 5sp, but I also what to do what is safest. THANKS!

Personally I'd go with the vortech...VERY minor modifications needed and is a fairly easy install. People have had good success with the vortechs.

As for the tranny...that all depends on how you drive. The question isn't really WILL it last....but more or less, how LONG will it last. It should work for a while...but I'd definitely be saving up for a TKO...or even better...a t56

good luck

You sound like me just before Summer my friend. I'm Vortech'd on a stock longblock. I changed out the necessary fuel delivery components, got a good tune and run at 10 psi (8 lb pully with an AFM Power Pipe). I make 313 RWHP and 374 RWTQ. If you have any in depth questions I'd be glad to help, just fire away.

BTW, my stock T5 is holding out just fine, but I have an upgrade in the future.

prochargers are the only stock intercooled supercharger out there. Which basically means more boost. You cannot go wrong with procharger dispite what the vortechers say.
