That's the one that finally worked for us, your right fits great. In addition i changed one of the fan motors to a larger motor for a little added protection.

What's the best way to deal with the overflow tank and the Contour fans?

+1 for the Contour fan (that's what I will get next time).

I dealt with my overflow tank by giving it the heave ho. The sensor and dash light quit working years ago and the replacement equipment isn't cheap. Instead, I took a small clear plastic coke bottle, punched a hole in the top part of the bottle (not the cap) and ran the overflow hose inside the bottle. It stays tucked away out of sight inside the fender behind the headlights and whenever I check it it always has less than half of a tea cup in it.

I bought a polished aluminum round tank for 50 bucks and made two little angle brackets. Mounted it right beside my fan. The stock set-up will no longer work.

88 3.8 taurus Wagon

Hi i saw this 88 3.8 wagon with an Elec Fan and that fan was huge just askin for input if it would work.

Went to the pick-and-pull today and found a V6 Contour. After about 45 minutes I was able to get the fan loose but for the life of me was unable to pull it out. The motor was in the car but there was a giant rusty cooling pipe running across the front of the engine that prevented the fans from coming out. Is there a trick to getting these out? I did pull the wiring harness but that was about all that came home with me.

no real trick that I remember, mine came out pretty easy, 10 - 15 minutes. For sure you need the harness. Not sure what pipe that is, maybe A/C? Can't bend it out of the way? Maybe they have someone there to pull it for you? It's definetly worth the trouble.

No way this thing was coming out easily. I snapped off the A/C pipe running across the top of the radiator, bent the radiator frame, removed the fan's wiring harness and was able to get it loose from the radiator. There is a BF pipe that is bolted to the forward engine head that carried coolant. Super sturdy thing and I didn't have a pry bar. I worked at it with the big screwdriver I had - nuthin'. I even stood on the thing and it held me up. Its fasteners were rusty too so no removing it. The fan came up but there wasn't enough room to angle it out between the radiator frame and this coolant pipe.

I already had a fan I bought off the shelf of a local boneyard but this one was in better shape. I did grab the harness so I guess I have what I need but I might go back and give that one another go.

Any preference between DCC's 2sp and FK-50P?

I would go with contour fans only if you are using a DCC controller only cause its a serious pain to effectively control two fans without the DCC controller.

If you are going with a simple thermostatic switch and a relay I would stick with the taurus fan as it is going to be A LOT easier to wire up.

My Junkyard had an abundance of both types of fans, but also keep in mind for the contour fans you are going to be charged for two fans at a junkyard, not one "assembly". No problem if you want performance, but for a budget I think the Taurus is the way to go.

Oh and for looking for the taurus fan just look for the older body style taurus, its probably gonna have the fan you need, you should be able to tell just by looking at it.

Print a picture of the fan and take it with you if you need to, its a pretty distinct fan.

I did, and I've got the bloodied knuckles to prove it.

It sure wasn't a 10 minute job with that motor in place. I used channel locks and bent the radiator frame out of the way, then I broke up that radiator pipe and once I did I was able to wedge the fan out, but it wasn't easy by any means. If there is a trick to it I don't know what it is.
