I tore down the old 289 I got for parts and got the timing cover, fuel pump, and eccentric to use on my '98 302 engine. I believe I have the 1 piece eccentric. I know I need to change the timing chain and gears on the 302, but is there any particular engine I can order it for, like just a 289? Anything to watch out for when picking one out?

Nick,

I used the ford motorsport double roller timing set in my 289. The one piece fuel pump eccentric that you have will work perfectly. Most of the issues that I have had with eccentrics have been with the two piece ones not spinning properly on a cam gear designed for a one piece. So, you could probably use whatever timing set you want with the one piece. Hope this helps.

you have to buy matching timing set to your eccentric
or new 2-piece eccentric to your 98 timing set.
