I made up my mind finally. I'm going with a new, not a rebuilt, 330 tork capacity Tremec built T-5. I know if I went the the TKO I woudn't have to worry when I add more hp, but after dumping all this money on an engine, transmission, and labor, it will be a real long time untill I can afford to add hp. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. The new T-5 is more affordable, less money spent on parts for converting to a TKO,less for clutch and clutch plate, and less labor intensive. Plus I have my old T-5 for a back up. I don't baby my car, but I don't beat the crap out of it either. At the track I launch at 3000-3500 rpms, don't dump the clutch, release the clutch with my foot on it as quick as possible, and I don't power shift, and I run drag radials not real slicks ,which can kill a transmission. I ran my old stock motor which has 300 tork with my stock T-5 which handles 300 tork and never had a problem. Raced every weekend that I could. The new Ford Crate engine I'm purchasing puts out 305 tork and the upgraded T-5 handles 330, so I'm thinking it should be fine. Ireally appreciate everyone's help! Thanks!
The next hp mod, in about 3 or 4 years!, would be a Ken Belle 6-8psi blower. Am I right or wrong here. Doesn't a blower actually decrease tork because of the parasitic drag ? So a heavier tork capacity transmission wouldn't be in need?
