I'm stumped here. I have a 93 dash and steering wheel/column and an 89 instrument cluster in my 88 and I need to order a new turn signal lever assembly. The one I have in the car is just hanging but I don't remember which one it is. I had both....of course I can't find one now that I'm almost finish putting my car back together. The problem I'm having is that the one that is in the car won't fit in the opening between the back of the steering wheel and the front of the clear plastic cover of the instrument cluster. It's not reaching where it needs to be for me to put the screws in. Is something wrong or do I just have the wrong turn signal lever assembly? Another question, why is the one for 87-89 almost double the cost of the one for 90-93? What's so different about them?

You have the airbag column/wheel in your '88?

You match the turn signal stalk to the wiring in your car, so if it's still '88 wiring you'll want the '88 turn signal.

BUT, want to make sure I understand what you changed

Correct! Gotta have the switch for whatever year the wiring harness is.

Yes, I have the air bag column/wheel and dash out of a 93 LX but I use the existing 88 wiring that's in my car. Just transferred everything from one column to the other. So, I need the turn signal lever assembly for an 87-89 if I understand you correctly. Right?

89 on the left --- 92 on the right. You can see how the contact spades are in different locations.

You can run the older tilt cokume and wheel with the new dash. The column trim will work with it

The main reason I wanted to change the column was because my tilt column was worn out. If I held on to the top of the steering wheel and accelerate hard I'd pull the steering wheel straight down into my lap. There were a couple of "OH SHT" moments because of that. So, it had to go.
