i just want to see poeple's opinions about this.I came up with two different routs to take for my 2004Gt 5 speed.

1- plain and simple ...1.7 KB.

OR

2-VT stage 1 or 2 cams with springs along with full exhaust.stay N/A with full bolt-ons.

My 2004 has about 18K on it. My current mods are:
Mac CAI
Steeda Tri ax shifter
FRPP 3.37
Steeda U/D pulleys
Super 40 series mufflers welded-in
Aluminum Driveshaft

So what do you guys think? should i go route 1 OR 2 ?
i know people will ask me , what i want out of my car . so i guess the answer is:just a good street racing car. nothing too powerful.
NOTE: i will not be able to tune my car nor take it to a dyno. so my best shot is ordering a wide band o2 and recieving mail order tunes. :nonono:
i'm excited to hear your opinions :nice:

Personally, I like the VT w/cams and full exhaust route. That's because when you blow someone away and pull the hood they don't see that KB sitting under there and cry 'foul'. :D You can always add that later when you get spanked of course!

well IMO i think you should get your cams/springs and full exhaust before you really even consider getting a S/C...you will be better off (as well as getting forged internals if you dont havent done that yet)

Get boosted and stay under 9 pounds. 6 pounds to be nice and safe on those soft internals.
That should get some good fun for you. If you blow something, start back at the bottom and work your way up building it the right way! :nice:

I might be wrong, but haven't you asked a similar question only a few months back??

Anyhow's, it's all personal preferance. There is something about cammed n/a motor that is just a blast. But it'll cost you a lot of money and effort. And at the end of the day limited output.

FI will still cost you, but it's only really one modifcation, so it keeps it simpler in my view.

Personally I vote FI, either KB for the grunt and the sound or Procharger, for the price, and more revvy nature.

As the saying goes there's no replacement for displacement. And that's exactly what FI does, it literally increase the displacment of a motor.

i'm trying to decide the same thing. I'm going to be getting a tuner and full exhaust and then make my decision. you might want to do the same. get a little farther along and once you have a better idea of how your car will respond to mods see if the extras from the heads and cams will do it for you, or if you know you will need the KB to make you happy.

well I dont want to spen THAT much money on forget internals.I'm getting the 2007 GT500 next year , so while modifing the 2004gt i'm still trying to save enough for the GT500. I could afford a 1.7KB but i guess i will be taking my chances runing it on stock internals.Thats why i was thinking of keeping the 2004 N/A and pushing up the HP a bit.and next year i will have an FI ride anyways.thats why i would rather stay N/A with this one and play it safe although i love boost

with the 2V, N/A just can't hang with FI. a plain Vortech kit on a stock 2V can produce more power than all but a handful of N/A 2V's. add an exhaust you'll make more power than any N/A 4.6L 2V.

Like you and many others here, I am stuck at the same crossroad. However, my car is already on the way to stay N/A. I kinda decided when I got it that it would never see a S/C. So, I installed 4.10's and some Steeda UD Pullies and a Predator. So, Cams, Throttle Body and Plenum, L/T's and a K&N FIPK and my car is done, if I stay N/A. BUT, I know it won't be enough, I will be wanting a S/C and have a few mods that are useless, namely the cams, FIPK and pullies. However, I don't think I will ever see $3,500 or more for a Supercharger kit so I am stuck thinking N/A or maybe a homemade Turbo setup, which is a whole other story. DAMMIT!!! I HATE MUSTANGS!!! :(
Why couldn't Ford have sold them with 600 RWHP stock and a $24,000 tag? :nonono:

Some LS1s make 320 STOCK.

I say go with some cams, it will keep you happy for the time being. Im actually content with my car  . SURPRISE! But i have more respect for someone who has cams and alot of boltons than a guy that just slapped on a S/C...eventhough he is faster...WHY? Because the former did more work and put more effort into making his car, HIS CAR....that desirves respect. So I vote N/A....but ONLY cams with boltons....and definatly LTs (should be installing my LTs MAYBE tomorrow).

And some Cobra's have made 380rwhp stock. Must dyno around 360-370, but most LS1's also dyno in the 290-300rwhp range too.

It's still a pretty big difference in power.....it's the Cobra's greater weight that even things out some for the LS1's. :) Yeah, bolt ons work great for the F-bodies....but those same bolt ons work just as well, if not better for a blown Cobra. :nice:
