I've noticed for the past 3 months that when I start my car, there is a whistling noise and it seems to be coming from the engine. I notice if I push on the gas a bit and hold the rpm's around 1.5 rpms that the whistling with stop. As soon as it gets back to idle, it starts to whistle again. I'm not sure if there is something wrong or if its normal.

ok well I just checked the vacuum hoses and from what I can tell, there's no leaks. Like I mentioned above, the "noise" is when the car is idling but if I rev it a bit and hold it there, the noise is completely gone. Maybe whistling is not the right word to describe it. But its definatly noticable.

Could you try to put another word to describe it? Is it more of a hiss? My 5.0 has a whistling sound when I accelerate because of a vacuum leak, and it sounds like it's twin turbo. (Hence why I don't bother fixing it.)
