White crap under my oil cap?

Also consideration must be made due to the difference in temperatures. I would venture to say that those in the south would not experience this as much as those in the north. Why? Because it's colder here. BTW, just checked mine, white residue and it smells like Mobil 1. No issues with losing oil or coolant, the tailpipes are still clean and the engine runs great! When I do oil changes, I always wipe it off.

this IS the Correct answer, its a common problem and is Nothing To Worrie About

Just to be sure I would buy a leak down test kit and make sure your car doesnt have a BHG (blown head gasket). You could also do a quick compression test to make sure the cylinders are holding up. Water in oil can cause condensation like that, creating the "milky" look. All I'm saying is, better safe than sorry!

Does the dipstick look milky? Oil has vapor rising from it that mixes with condesation right there on the cap-seeing as how it's the highest point of exit. If the dipstick don't look like chocolate milk don't look back.

This is definetly cold weather related, not a leaking head gasket as long as the dipstick is clear on the part that sits in oil normaly. The white stuff on the cap is from condensation, most oil brands recommend more frequent oil changes for cars that get occasional use or driven short distances due to this condensation build up.

I just bought a car I have the same problem, its a 01 GT with 73,000 miles. I was kinda worried that it might be the headgasket but the oil on my dipstick looks good. Also I was wondering how much would it cost to replace the headgasket? I heard shops usually charge around $1500.

Depends on where you live, but that's about right. I fixed a BHG on my supra for $800. That was a HUGE PITA....:notnice:

100 percent correct. tempature can cause the white substance. 99.9 percent of the time i have seen it, it's been in cars that only drive short distances in the cold weather.
