Anybody who has a D&D T56 kit in your 5.0 have the model number of the bellhousing used to make that tranny bolt up to a 5.0??

I have an 03 Cobra T56 that I am trying to put in my 5.0, but I can't find the bellhousing I need. I tried calling D&D but they won't tell me jack squat, they act like it's some kind of top secret conversion that only they can do.

Anyways, if anybody has any info that could help me out it would be great.

Sorry, but I don't think you read my post in that thread. That post was about LT1 T56's, which have a completely different endhousing, adapter plate and bellhousing than that of a Cobra T56, which is what I was inquiring about in the post.

I decided not to got with a LT1 T56, because I got ahold of a good Cobra T56. So I am inquiring in this post about what bellhousing D&D puts on their T56's, which are Cobra T56's.

Look, I'm not the one trying to start a pissing match here, I was just trying to ask a simple question to those who have the D&D kit.

I was also just stating my experiences with D&D, which have not been good, and many others I know have not had good experiences with them either.

So I think you need to :Zip2: tunedin302.

I see you posted on corral also. If you would have done a search then you would see that you need a mcleod bell. I am running one for my TKO and would highly suggest investing in it. Again, no need to bad mouth D&D. I know, they have helped me out a lot.

Care of 94GT347 on here:
McLeod makes the only bellhousing you will find to mate the T-56 to a 302. It is their part# 8750-00. You will also need the intermediate plate their part# 8705-01, the sleeve the TOB rides on part# 8-111, and an adjustable ball stud for the clutch fork #16909.
If you get your t-56 out of an F-body, you will need to change the input shaft because the one you have is not the right length. You need a 10 spline for a 2.66 first gear Tremec part# TUFM 6132, bearing 1300-133-006 and shim kit TNKT 2226.

Hey, thanks for you help tunedin302, that helped me out a lot. I did try searching both here and on corral, but it's hard to because "T56" is too short to type into the search function.

the whole having an extra o/d compared to having a 1.0 5th instead of 4th can be solved with rear end gearing, but do you really want to shift more than 3 times in the 1/4, i see that as being a bad thing.

All 6 speeds are not the same. Some just put a road race 4th gear in which really results in the 5th gear being the exact same. Really depends on the gearing of the 6 speed and if it is a 5 speed with an extra overdrive or a 5 speed with a road race 4th gear put in between the original 4th and 5th speeds. Besides, putting in a lower numerical rear gear will result in a loss of acceleration off the line. With a 6 speed (w/ extra overdrive) have the best of both worlds: keep the higher numerical ring and pinion gear but decrease engine RPMs over the standard overdrive.

having the same gearing i have now with a .54 6th gear on top of it all would be great, I will do this eventually, but i was saying that i dont think i'd want five gears in the 1/4.
