Since the dealer couldnt find what I wanted im gonna have to order. Now, I dont care much for the so-called "sport appearance" package but for the price its not bad, just dont like the fact that the hood scoop (ala my 03) is not functional Opinions?

I personally don't really care for the hood scoop. I think it looks kinda goofy just stuck on the hood. At least with the SN-95, there were lines on the hood to tie it in.

The exhaust tips are nice, but you'll probably end up getting an exhaust system anyway.

The plenum cover is also kinda cool, but it also restricts you from many types of strut tower braces if you wanted to do that. You could also just buy the plenum cover, or there are a few companies that will paint them to match the color of your car (very cool).

I have it, I like it (the look anyway), but....

In retrospect, I shouldn't have spent the money for it seeing that I will be replacing the hood and most of everything thing else in the next few months.

I didn't have a choice. The few they had all had the GTAP. I didn't want the scoop, but it quickly grew on me. I haven't decided on a replacement hood yet, so at least it's something a bit different. I ordered the mufflers an hour after I purchased the car, so the rolled tips were nice looking for maybe a week. But I LOVE the plenum cover. It looks like a different car, compared to the '05. The engine bay gets a lot more looks in our '07 than '05.

No its not. I was trying to decide on an exhaust before I even knew that I was going to sell my old mustang and buy a new one!

I have the GT appearance package I like it, I took the car off the lot and I got $1,500 off sticker so I didn't complain. Being the hood scoop is non finctional you can get a different style scoop aftermarket if you really want one, there are a few choices out there and some are really hot. They're pretty easy to install being the factory hood underneath has pre-marked spots to be drilled out. As for the exhaust tips if you're going to get an axle back exhaust then you don't need them, the best part of the kit is the plenum cover and though it limits you ob strut bars who cares, you can install the GT-500 bar, so it doesn't look as good as the FRPP a strut bar is for function no appearance. If I were to custom order one I'ld get the california special only because you can have two toned seats.

Except for the hood scoop, I'd say it's a good deal. I'm not a scoop fan at all. The stock mufflers sound decent when they are paired up with an O/R H pipe. They are loud when you get on it and absolutely no drone at any RPM. With the rolled tips it makes them look a whole lot nicer than the plain tips. You can get the plenum cover for way less than $100, which is what I did for my '06. It does add a nice touch under the hood.

I don't care for the hood scoop either. Looks like a piece of sheet metal that's been cut out and plopped on top. If non functional, doesn't it introduce a small amount of drag or ruin the aerodynamics or is it negligable?

My 07 GT has the "GT Appearance Package." After owning an 03 Mach 1 with a functional, factory Shaker hood scoop, I got to changing the scoop on the 07 recently. Cut open the hood and liner underneath and removed the front plastic "grill" of the scoop to get fresh air blowing the hot underhood air out. Made my own grill for the scoop and used existing mounting holes to secure it. Maybe I'll get creative and come up with some sort of ducting to force air into the factory airbox, but only if I can make it look good. So, while it isn't currently a ram air scoop, at least I can keep the ambient air temp under the hood down when hot lapping at the track.

We had to really search to find a vapor silver GT without the package. It is a really cheap package but we are installing a shaker hood on the car and the bolt holes in the factory scoop are not covered by the shaker. The rolled tip exhaust look ok but we knew that the exhaust would be one of the first things to go. And well, the plenum cover....see shaker hood comments. Make sure you think about some of these things before you decide.
It was hard to find what we wanted but finally did. 2008 Vapor silver premium GT, 5 speed, regular hood, 355 axle, premium two tone california special seat package in dove and black, ambiant lighting out the door, tax, tag and title $27,750.
Two weeks later she now has a Steeda axle back, Pypes off road H, JLTII with SCT tune from Brenspeed, Carbon 3d side scoops, CDC classic chin spoiler, Lloyd GT mats, the stripe kit goes on this week after which I cut the shaker in probably next weekend. Pictures to follow. This is my wifes car and that is what I promised I would do for her. We both felt that these cars are really great looking but they have become dime a dozen so she did not want one unless I made it more unique than the run of the mill ones all over the road.
She also has driven my '04 Z06 with a few little mods..(over 500rwhpand tq in a 3070lb car).. so she was dissapointed in the performance of the Mustang when she first drove one. The 355s help a little but the intake/tune and exhaust combo satisfied her for now. I told her that I would also add UDP and delete plates if she still wanted a little more. I am not sure this car justifies the cost of a FI set up but we have not ruled it out.
The long and short of it is to plan ahead a little. That option, even though it is inexpensive can a) cause problems with future mods and b) ultimately be a waste of money since you will likely change everything out anyway. Good luck

Actually, the GT appearance pkg. was on my 'must have' list when I was looking for mine. The hood scoop continues the retro look of the car and I think it adds a lot to the overall appearance. Back in the day (yeah, I'm old enough to have been there) most of the hood scoops were non-functional so the fact that this one is non-functional doesn't bother me. The rolled tip exhaust is a nice touch and the engine cover really makes the car pop when the hood is opened.

I think the GT appearance package is one of the few bargins offered on the Mustang.

As others have mentioned here, the bottom line is: 1. Are you going to modify the car and 2. What looks better to you. Sounds simple I know but it's really tough to make a decision like that sometimes, especially if you are unsure of what you are going to do with the car down the road. I have a GT/CS and I like the appearance package and the fact that it has a two tone interior. I have Vista blue with black and gray (ok dove) interior and I think that combo goes great together. I also really like that the front and rear facias are like the Shelby's, just different enough to stand out from the herd but not too radical. As for the hood scoop, I was/am torn on that. I think the hood without one looks too empty and is missiong something, but I think the hood scoop could be designed a little better or the hood should have some more contours and lines in it. It just looks tooflat to me by itself. I really like the idea of getting a ram air setup like the Mach 1 (I had a 2003 Mach) but that would require me to get a new hood as well. So for me, I like the appearance overall and although I'm not "inspired" by the hood scoop, for me it is the lessor of two evils so I am good with it. That's just me, its really a personal decision and as long as you base your decision on what looks better to you you'll be happier with it.

I do agree that the package is one of the few bargains available on the car if that is the look you are going for and don't plan to upgrade the car. I like a scoop on these cars in general but like I said earlier there are just so many on the road that they really end up not appearing very special. Even the darn rental cars have the same look. The real retro look that was the most desirable in the late 60's and early 70's was/is the shaker hood. You didn't see that many back then and you don't see that many now. check out the '70 Boss 302s on cars-on-line.com to see the similarity in looks. Unique retro!! If everybody liked the same look/ride/performance it wouldn't be that interesting. To each their own. Regardless of what hood you like these cars are pretty darn good looking in all configurations.

When I was looking around, I specifically was looking for a car without the appearance package because of the hood scoop, although I really liked the look of the plenum cover and rolled tips. The hood scoop looks too much like an after-thought to me. I ended up buying the plenum cover and rolled tips aftermarket.... just over $100 for both.

+1 I specifically told the dealer I do not want the apperance package. It was hard to find one without it. But I got what I wanted. The hood scoop is just too overboard for me... But the tips and cover look good.
