What kind of gains would you get over the GT40s?

I don't mean to sound like I don't want to answer your Q but ....................

Could be a little!

Could be a lot!

It really does depend on the other parts of the combo.

If you post up your sig, I'd bet you get more replies to your Q.

Great!

In that case I'd guess 15 to 20 rwhp.

My first thought would be, you would not want to go to all the trouble of a heads change out without doing a cam. Its just too much double work to not do it that way.

...and then the cam would add like 10hp to the addition of the heads. So 30hp max? Hmmm. Probably be better money spent on just a cam, no? I am talking about something like a #19 or 2031 cam. Nothing too extreme.

if you get alluminum heads w/ a good cam and your cobra intake you'll be knocking on 300rwhp (TB and MAF provided)

Is that the common HCI output number or the high side? Is that with an off the shelf cam or something barely streetable? The 24lb injectors will support that kind of power won't they?

24#'s will work fine, 300rwhp is a reasonable estimate, hell-people with GT40p's are hitting 300rwhp, aluminum heads+custom cam+porting cobra intake can be 340rwhp or so

You might want to look at WhiteDevil's AFR/2031/Edel combo.

At the risk of offending someone, If you got your sites set on 300rwhp or better, the Cobra intake is not as capable as others IMHO.

true, the cobra isn't the greatest, but if you already have it might as well use it

You are correct!

My bad ...... its getting past my bedtime, lol.

The new Edel's and AFR's perform close to one another so a look at his combo would give you some idea of what is possible.

i like this thread, yea id probably stick with the cobra, i think porting the lower cobra would be cheaper then purchasing a new edelbrock or twisted wedge ITM. Does anyone know if the GT40 lower ITM is the same as the Lower Cobra ITM? im kinda in this boat right now i think getting heads without doing a cam is fine becuz that is more of the backbone(as far as the wallet is concerned) and most expensive piece, and will atleast set him up down the road when he ready to complete everything, and also if funds permit. I might do just heads, but if my next paycheck isn't big enough then i just may go with a cam instead, havent decided yet, gotta alot of thinking to do
