Ive been contemplating a Magnaflow c/b vs an American Thunder c/b for the longest time. (on a stock 02 GT) I think I like the Magnaflow tone better (plus the increased power and SS are major pluses) but the only reason I haven't gotten it is b/c so many people claim that it sounds just like stock... is this true?? I definately don't want annoying loud but I do want to get noticed when I'm driving by. How do you guys like your Magnaflows?

Unfortunately, everyone has a different opinion on what "too loud" is. Personally, my Magnapacks and catted x are not loud enough most of the time...but they sound badass

I've heard that the Magnaflows sound close to stock unless you really get on it, then they scream (because of the straight-thru design). If it were me, I'd get the 'Packs all over again.

It is not loud american thunder per say. It is subtle at idle, but very nice grow at WOT. But not the kind of sound that irriate cops to get you pulled over. I was bit dissapointed becouse it was not loud at idle, But as soon as it was packed in, I love the darn thing.
If you want loud, then just get O/R X pipe, and it'll be obnaxiusly loud at idle, and ridicoulsly insanely loud at WOT.

Chambered muffler is nice and loud, but you actualy lose power from what I'm hearing from people...

Dude, you sounded like me when I was exhaust shopping. I went with the magnaflows and couldn't be happier! They have a unique sound. They sound "a little" louder than stock at idle, but when you rip on them they wake up with a smooth, mellow muscular roar.

Overall, they are "a hair" quiet than other "chamber style" mufflers. Magnaflows have that straight-thru design that do NOT sound "tin"y in any way. If you want it louder, you could also add a H-pipe!

I hope it helps!!!

I love my magnaflows. Very agressive when you get on it.
My friend has American thunder catback with LT's/ and o-r H on a
90 GT and it sounds good but ALOT of drone. Flowmasters are louder
at cruising speeds than when you get on it.

PM me your number and I'll call you. I know it's not the same as hearing it in person, and remember, I have BBK LTs and BBK OffroadX, but I've called a couple of dozen people to let them hear my setup.

PM me with a good time to call and I'll work something out.

Well ive had
-Stock H with 2 camber flows.. sounded ok

-MagnaFlow X w/cats with 2 camber flows.. didnt feel any different but sounded alot better and louder but not loud enough.. well not really louder just a different tone

-MagnaFlow X w/cats with MagnaPacks.. At idle, not that loud really but you can tell you have an exhaust.. normal driving, Low sweet purr.. people will know you have somthing serious tho.. WOT, you might think you drivin a nascar.. really mean.. and IMO i dont think is raspy at all.. Power, it might be just me or just the sound, but my car feels so much stronger..

You prolly know this but cambered flows have restriction.. were as magnaflow is strait through..

hope that helps some
Matt

You will surely know you made an exhaust change from stock. Definitely. There is a contingent of us that use Bassani baffles because they need to be quietted down ... yeah, us old guys in our 30's ( )

like said before, they are a bit louder than stock at idle, under acceleration they are louder and more aggressive, and at WOT they scream.

I really agonized over whether to go Magnaflow or Magnapack and I'm really happy with my Magnaflows. Ditto what everyone else has said about them.

Love it!

While I still had the stock exhaust manifolds and H-pipe it didn't sound much different than stock (at least until I opened it up). Now that I also have headers and a high performance H-pipe it sounds more like something you'd see at Daytona than a Mustang, and nobody ever mistakes it for stock...
