There is someone who wants to race me. He has a New Beetle with a VR6 swap. I have tried searching the web a bit to find some info about mods for these but I keep coming up with nothing. He told me he is putting down 287 whp. This is from a TB, intake, cams, and some other stuff I forgot. Does that hp number sound like too much for a VR6, mind you it isn't turbo'd. He said next summer he will be running a 75 shot. Just trying to get opinions. I don't want to race him yet but he goes to Cecil County a good bit, and from what he says, he ran a 12.8x. Maybe next spring I will meet him there though.

If anyone is going to Cecil tonight, watch for an RX7 to run in the 8s. That is my cousin's buddy.

Thanks guys.

Do those vr6's come in the new vw's? My former co-worker had a vw jetta v6 standard trans. Had similar mods and i just ate him in my old 2000gt.
he had tb, inkake, cams and exhuast. it was funny that i beat him so bad with just exhuast.

if he really runs 12's make sure you do to. Then you'll really find out if he actually does.

no way in hell he's putting that down OR that he ran those kind of numbers. My buddy has a GTI 1.8T, with a rack of stuff done to it.. and puts down like 230whp. I owned the living crap out of him from a dig/30roll. 60roll he was starting to reel me in.. my gears didnt help much at 100 and he holds boost 4th/5th. annnd you dont have to worry about boost. soo - yeah

pretty much put a good chunk of change on the table and give it a go. :SNSign:

edit- my car had 3.73s, exhaust, b303.

My buddy has a 63 VW beetle with a built motor with a turbo on it and it flys. It is the fastest VW i have ever been in

Old VWs can be VERY fast, there were Street Driven Daily Drivers running low 12s in the early 1970s.
