Who knows edelbrock carbs?

Got a 650 edelbrock and put it on last winter, ran the car and it worked fine, but try to start it this spring and all the carb does is shoot fuel into the engine like crazy, you can see it flowing in as you turn it over almost as if it is straight from the fuel pump.

The only thing that is different is the carb gasket, I changed it before starting it but I am pretty sure that that shouldn't be whats causing this problem.

Anything that can get stuck inside these carbs that would cause this?

My holley did the same. It was a float stuck open. This raised pressure as seen by the jets and fuel gushed out. But that was a holley.....maybe eddies are the same. Go jiggle the float around and see what happens. Pull open the fuel bowl top bolt and fill the fuel bowl with carb cleaner and start it up. Dont let that stuff sit in there for any length of time! That should clean it out from inside out. Worked like a charm for me.

kinda sorta off topic, but but kinda not...... how did you like the Carter AFB style Edelbrock carb when it was working right last year?

I have a 750 edde. on my 466 bb ford in 56 fioo on a wiend stelth.Manual choke, it is crisp,starts easy,and is an real nice setup.Had a 750 dbl p holly b/4 was ok, but like the edlb. better

Either one of the floats are hung open, or your fuel pressure is too high. Edelbrock's and Carter are very fuel pressure sensitive. They like no more than 5.5 psi of fuel pressure. Any more and they'll stall on quick stops or hard cornering. I've got 4 Edelbrocks in my stable. A 750 on my 460 powered Bronco. An 800 on my 460 powered motorhome. A 750 on my Dad's 460 powered 4X4 Ranchero. And a 600 on my 5.0 powered 63 Fairlane. All work flawlessly.

Tip: Always use a filter directly before the carb and you'll never have to worry about a hung float.
