Who makes a good deep transmission pan?

I'm looking for about 3 extra qts. I know Mac makes a somewhat reasonably priced one, but I'm unsure of it's quality. There's also the TCI and B&M ones, but they're pretty pricy for something like that.

Anyone have any input into this?

Thanks for the input. Unfortunatly, Moroso doesn't make one for the AODE.


From all of the ones I've been browsing through, the TCI one seems to be among the best for the price. I'll probably go with it, unless anyone knows of a better one.

Here is Art Carr's Description of theirs from last year:

#10501 Deep Aluminum Pan $169.00

Our pan will hold an additional 2 quarts of transmission fluid, also has a magnetic drain plug & cooling fins.

I am probably completely out of it, but why not use a 4R pan and 4R filter. I think that nets some extra capacity.

The B&M one. I figured that I'd go for a tried and true one.

One of the best reasons I could find is that the aftermarket pans actually have a drain plug. Makes draining the stuff a ton easier. My B&M pan held about 3 quarts more fluid than the stocker, which was thin and dainty by comparison. It's also finned and very nice looking under the car.

Did it come with a pick-up extension? Also where did you get the B&M pan from?

Summit says its discontinued...

If I remember correctly, it uses a 4x4 filter, instead of an extension. I got it from Summit. Odd, that it would be discontinued.

A 4x4 filter simply has a longer pickup?

I'm really not sure. It's been on there for about a year. I'll see if I can find the stuff that came with it, I'm sure I still have it.

Do you guys have lowered cars? I was under mine today and the stock pan sits just above the exhaust. My cats and K-member drag on huge speed bumps (all speed bumps are crawled over). Now having looked, I am not going to get a deeper pan.

Just wanted to toss that out - it would suck to rip the pan off (the 94 is pretty dropped though).

My exhaust is lower than the pan is, so it hasn't caused any problems. But, I am used to creeping over stuff.

EDIT: I also have about an extra 1/4" of ground cleatance due to my tire size. Not sure how much that helps, though.
