100% CORRECT! WOW all the sanding that's needed when their pitted badly... I managed to smooth it up with some 60 gritt, 80, and now I'm at 120. Working a few hours a day LOL Right now even as they are grey and still rough, they look 50x better than before... I can't wait to get them finished although a few hours a day will take some time but I hate sanding.

Anyone got before/after pics?

take the quarter out, tape off the glass, and get a orbital sander on it... Goes a little quicker... Then put some dynalight on it and clean it up a little

I'm doing a set for someone right now. Yes - they are a PITA, but as long as you take your time and don't rush it, it's OK. The person I'm doing them for said he doesn't need them right away, so I'm taking my time.

You can try filling some of the Pits with Spot Putty and that should help.

I would just fill the pits with some kind of epoxy or something tougher than bondo so it'll take some weather abuse, and THEN sand it down so you don't alter the shape of the molding.

hmmm some 3m plastic bumper filler should work?

I used Evercoat Poly Flex to fill mine. After hours and hours of sanding, I shot them with flexible primer and flexible bumper paint. They are not perfect, but they are 100 times better than before. I get alot of questions and compliments at cruise- ins. Sorry no pictures.

Yeah that's the thing, if you just do a decent job you come out worlds better than they look all cracked and pitted. It's a win-win job. Thank god i don't have to deal with that crap on my '85.

Hell man that goes with just about all the molding if it's faded or pitted. Cowl pan grills are bad for that too.
