For that motor, the only reason its going to make 800 hp is because you want it to. That'll barely be breaking a sweat. That's a mean MFer.

+1,000 for Jay Allen, Camshaft Innovations AND Joel5.0, Jay was extremely helpful and fair in building my current setup, and my car has impeccable street manners and pulls DAMN HARD for what it is...

Jay bent over backwards to help me out, and his pricing and shipping was more than fair... his product delivered and he had honest turn around time... customer service was top notch

Joel5.0 has helped me and thousands of others countless times on contless other forums, out of shear love for the hobby of building fast cars and helping his fellow man

to the OP, I'd suggest going with the concensus on this matter and doing business with Jay Allen or Ed Curtis, so far as I know they're friends, converse regularly, and speak highly of each other's work, good luck :nice:

[Edited for inappropriate content.] Your PM to me was the correct process. This post was not. I heard what you had to say and I acted on it.

I'd go with comp, I was going to get a custom cam from 2 people who i WILL NOT put on blast, but after seeing some of the custom prices and waiting a month to get just a e-mail in return, i was taken back. It made me think if these guys take a month to respond to me on the internet, and dont answer the phone, the i would be crazy to just blindly send my money away.

realistically, COMP has been around forever, everytime i call them the phone is answered immediately, and they know thier stuff and can make you just as good of a cam as anyone else. I have an off the shelf nitrous cam from COMP and i love it, the cam is as smooth as an E-cam and brings the business like its made to

edit: my off the shelf nitrous cam was almost(i had a little less duration) the same grind as a "custom" cam that was going into a friend's 347 with an F1-C procharger and i paid 200 less for my cam

I don't want you to take my comments as being argumentative or harsh against you. But I would like to offer a different perspective, as it is relevant to selecting a custom cam grinder.

I can't speak for the process that other cam grinders use, but I know how Jay works.

Jay spends a great deal of time working with his PAYING customers. Until you SEND MONEY you are only window shopping.
Him spending several hours on each person who wants to know what he thinks would quickly eat up his time.
So, Jay designs a cam AFTER a build sheet is submitted, and payment is made. If you want cam specs before sending money and a build sheet... then you will be disappointed.
If you are ready to buy a custom cam from Jay, then all you have to do is submit a build sheet. (but don't waste his time by submitting a buildsheet until you are ready to pay $$$)

It is important to understand that COMP pays phone jockeys to be available all the time.
Jay on the other hand is a one man show, so if Jay spends an hour on the phone with a prospective customer, then that is an hour he isn't spending on a paying customer.

Like I said... I'm not trying to pick a fight with you, so I hope you don't take any of this personally.

Almost the same based on what? .050" duration?

How did they compare at .020"?
How about .030"?

Was the valve timing 'almost' the same

My cam from Jay Allen is "CUSTOM" the lobes are not Ford, Comp does not have the core for my cam, people going FAST have lobes that are totaly redesigned & Comp does not have that....

You can have people picking out some numbers for your cam, or you can have Jay (camshaft Innovations) redesign the whole damn camshaft to make power!

Whatever It Takes! is Jay Allen

I think it's time to let this one die. The usual guys recommended around here have been recommended. This topic had the potential to be a good one, but there's too many differing opinions leading to some arguments, and I'd rather not have to start tossing infractions around after multiple warnings have gone unheeded.
