Buying a set of 6.5" B/S 10" rims and beating the front inside corner of the inner tub, and rolling the wheel flare lip to make the tire "fit" doesn't mean it fits like it was supposed to.
If you cant load the trunk, carry back seat passengers, and/or have to watch how you drive the car after the installation of the above wheel, then the wheel didn't actually fit after all.
My reference for a wide wheel fitting means it fits the same as stock, with the tire actually inside the wheel tub. Conversely, the tire sidewall even with the wheel lip, or hanging out ala hippy joe ( my 5 yr olds' word for hoopty) is a band aid fit IMO.
Like I've said before, at 7.2" B/S, there was no way in hell I was gonna get that wheel to fit my car w/o mini tubbing it. As a result, the tire is well inside the tub and completely out of harms way, even if I load the trunk w/ 34 gals of moonshine, have both my drunk assed cousin and the neighborhood kid in the back seat, and have to drive into a steep inclined parking lot to let them out to puke, I'll never have to worry about scrubbing a tire.
Bottom line, if you want to look like every other mstang w/ a wide wheel that's limited to what "fits".... go buy a 6.5" backspaced wheel, get a hammer and a baseball bat, and modify it accordingly. If you want a tire that actually fits like its supposed to, buy what you want, and mini tub the car.
