Who's replaced their 92-93 air bag steering wheel with aftermarket unit?

The steering hub in the 92-93's are massive to match the hideous ELEPHANT bag steering wheel that I absolutely must ditch, but it looks like more goofing around than meets the eye... the signal switch/handle wouldn't line up etc?

Who's made a nice clean conversion to a racier style steering wheel and what did you do about the fat hug.

Pictures are a must if you have them.

thanks alot

Grant and Momo make kits for almost every car even with airbags. I don't see why not Mustangs. You could also see about a steering collum with wheel out of a 89 on down because they have tilt steering. Oh yeah, don't forget your also going to have to do a cruise controll delete if you do a different steering wheel.

We're going ahead... even if I can't get the 89 hub because the stock ELEPHANT bag blows. Cruise I can live without as the car's going full show/drag with limited street use.

That's not half the prob at this point.... the entire cluster is now out as we're putting in a FLORIDA 5.0 unit which is not quite as simply as their instructions would lead you to believe.

How bout this. :nice:

I cannot wait to get this done to mine!

Florida 5.0 cluster went in relatively easy today....a few questions here and there. Nice of AUTO METER to supply the guages at no charge and their wicked 'KooL' electronic speedo that self adjusts for different gear ratios etc.

What we did notice was a badly chewed up speedo gear ( white ). Looked pretty brutal and that's with VERY limited street use as the car is just on and off the trailer... a burnout here... burnout there and that's it.... there was like 3 teeth still in tacked out of 23 I believe?

Nice to get the cruise junk out of the car as well.... another line to the throttle body and vacume line gone.. woo hoo!

ttt. I know digging up an old thread. But grant doesn't have an installation kit for 92-93 foxes. Anyone know how to get a grant gt wheel to adapt to a 93 column. Would you just use one for a 94 up.

momo makes a hub, and a very nice wheel, got it from maximum motorsports, i pulled the wheel without a puller, tapped with a hammer and used my knees to pull it out, keep the pressure even or it will stick, removed the clockspring(thats what it's called i think), and i was ready to motor, looks better but does not hide the inside of the coloum, its kinda nasty right now, but i will get some kind of upolstrey cover in the future. i will also have to get the horn to work, i may just run a wire to a switch and do it that way, even though the momo does come with a horn button
