Im ready to order 31 spline axles for my car and undecided on whether im goin with a spool or somethin like an auburn. Im leaning towards a spool though and just wanted to get some opinions from anyone thats running one. How streetable are they and any problems on turns and all that? thanks

kevin

Spools on the street are not safe. I know that now all that have them will chime in about how they are all fine and dandy, but they really are not safe. Get the Auburn Pro if you really need the traction.
Even a Detroit will get annoying on the street with the tire scrub and chirping and push when turning sharp.

NP... check out the forums for the Anderson PMS and TwEECer to get a better idea of what each can do for you. Since you aren't going to need to load MAF tansfer function (your MAF is already cal'd for 42s) and the PMS is tons easier to learn and operate, I figured it might be a good thing for you to have if you're not interested in the custom chip route.

I drive 50 miles a day. For 5 years. Thats just to work. Know when I got out on the weekends that add some miles. Than at the track.
hows the high speed turns in the rain?Lets say,,,,,,your on a free way and your exiting on a hair pin turn of a ramp??

Ill tell you that Im still runing the 28 spline Eaton unit with 28 Moser axles (racing aloy). No problems.

That was the same unit that was in for the 357 (150hp shot, slicks, tranny break drops form 3000+rpm,etc.).

And now is taking power from a 408 stroker on a shot (It took a 4100rpm launch with a 250hp shot no problems, and then went straight down the track!).

If you dont need a spool, dont run one.

btw,our 60's should be mid-low 1.30's,and the eaton should still be there :nice: .

So THAT'S where that freaking post went!!!! I knew that I had made it. I posted a reply to another thread, closed out the SN window and came back later, only to see that the post had gone *POOF*. The mere fact that the post is SOMEWHERE is proof that I still have my mind. lol It appears that the forum Zigged when it should have zagged.

well, i like my spool, but as mentioned above if you dont need one you should go with a nice posi unit or a locker. I have no problems what so ever and would get a spool on any High HP car i will have in the future, I never drive mine in the rain, but if you stay out of the gas in the turns and drive smart i dont see a problem.

i just wanted to be able to run slicks and not worry about the rear end, i had an eaton posi before, and i know that my car drives straighter off the launch, and hooks a ton better, but thats just me..
