Why A Fox?

I have been without a mustang for a while now, and have never stopped wanting one. I have looked at everything from new edge cars to test driving a '11 GT but I always come back to looking at and drooling over fox bodies. I found a '92 Notch that is supposed to be an ex Texas DPS car. Not sure if it's for sure an SSP car, haven't went to see it in person yet. I'm really not that broke up about whether it is or not though. It IS a coupe and the price isn't bad. Even if this one doesn't pan out I hope to be back in a fox soon. Not sure what it is that draws me to these cars, maybe it's the log wagon like ride or the weak at best brakes or the flopping ashtray doors and dangling map lights I can't put my finger on it but I love them.

Dude, my 2011 5.0 is one of the baddest Coyote cars in the country... and I frequently walk past it to hop in my junky old stock & slow 1986 5.0 and drive it wherever I'm going just because I LOVE THAT LITTLE CAR!!!

With all the different style Mustangs I see driving around town,there's nothing like seeing a clean Fox going down the road, especially since those sightings are getting rarer and rarer .There's also a fun factor I can't really explain when behind the wheel of my '86,this even after owning all sorts of 60's/early 70's iron.

Agree 1000% Ive owned quite a few myself and don't think I'll ever be without mine. Definetly not the greatest or fastest or ....?! I will go out of my way to check out a nice clean fox body. Still love the old stuff too. New cars are bleh for me.

Sharad that 11' has a sic stance! And looks and probably runs amazing but I'd drive the ch it out of that 86'

I still think the Fox body is the sexiest looking Mustang and 30 years after it's introduction is still holding its own.

X2 ... The FOX IS STILL ONE OF THE SEXIEST STANG PRODUCED, besides the 03 COBRA. If you can get your hands on the Coupe, better get it!

I think the reason foxes are still special is because they were really the last true muscle car Ford ever made that really catered to enthusiasts' desires. Ford has been making the Mustang increasingly better in engineering terms with each new version, but there's just something about being able to buy a base model car with just a V8 option. If I could get a stripped down 2015 with no A/C, manual windows/locks, a regular stereo (sans SYNC and all the other doo-dads), big brakes and a 5.0/6-speed, I would in a heartbeat. Does the current Mustang even have manual windows as standard?

Not sure, but if I was a betting man, id guess you can't even get manual roll ups anymore..

As for the fox, the guys at HOT ROD magazine have repeatedly made the statement that the only other car in history to do as much as the fox for the hot rodding hobby is the tri five chevy. That is saying a lot. I've been tinkering with foxes since the mid to late 80s, and I truly believe bang for the buck, you really can't beat em. With kenny brown or MM suspension you can make one out handle an M3, and even the chevy guys' go to car is a fox to put their engine in for the weight advantage in drag racing. I've owned an sn95 car. Loved it, but soon learned the emission headaches and squeezing power out of it made the fox much more attractive.

I grew up as a young kid drooling over fox bodies. The sound was the main thing that got me hooked. Hearing a fox, with an off-road midpope and flow masters I would stop everything and watch it drive by. When I got mine, the nastalgia as well as the cheap parts and easy to work on kept me in a fox. Today older the car and don't see ever selling it. If I start rolling intent I may add to the stable, but doubt I would go without a fox body.

I am definitely on the fence about selling mine now that I've invested so much time into it. I think my wife is more attached to it now than I am! She enjoys Sunday road trips in it, so how can I argue with that?

That's what I'm saying, the '11 is awesome Sharad, but the little red LX gets my blood pumping a lot more for some reason. Hell my wife's Camry is probably faster than a stock Fox but it just doesn't matter.

Why Fox body Mustangs? It's just like pretty girls; every guy has different vision of what his ideal woman would be like. Some like them tall, some like them short, some like them skinny, some like them well padded. Each to his own taste and preference.
