Last night my 1993 mustang driver side power lock just quit working. It worked 10 minutes ealier, then I get out and nothing. The passenger side works. I can manually lock it with the key. I have been searching the forum, it sounds like it could be the switch or actuators. Is there anything simple I can check before testing those. Also, my instrument panel lights are out on one side, I have changed those bulbs in my 1966, are they hard to change in the 1993?

Your acuators are probably burned out, pull ur door panel and see if there is anything in the way of the locking mechanism,also check to see if u are getting current from the wiring harness, 50 resto has a door lock acuator kit for $79.95,

Wow, 80 bucks for actuators, thats insane. Do a search on jrichker here on stanget, or just look for one of his posts. He has instructions on how to fix them cheap.They are listed in his sig, just click on them. I think it runs about $6 if you do it his way. Do you at least have a test light to chase these problems? If not get one. If you are blowing a fuse after the carpet install, you screwed one of your trim screws into a wiring harness. I have a short finder. Its a 20 amp circuit breaker that you install in place of the fuse that is blowing. Then you unhook things that are on that circuit and wiggle the harnesses. the circuit will come back to life when you find the problem. This just allows you to troubleshoot while there is power to the circuit in question without burning anything up. Get a haynes electrical manual, they have them at auto parts stores. This will help you learn how to fix these kinds of things that go haywire on older cars. Wiring diagrams for your specific vehicle are important to have also.

Yes, the switch is bad. Or the wiring going to it. Verify the switch is getting power. If it is, then you can safely assume its no good. They have them in the auto parts store in the red "help" packages. Thats the easy way to score a new switch. Napa has them for a bit more money, prolly the best bet.
