This car/platform had a lot of potential, got great reviews, and Ford just lets it die. Look at the success DC is having with their new RWD cars. Ford just needed to freshen the styling, bump up the HP and do some decent marketing. Lame... :notnice:

Didn't know it died. It's a hot car. Loved the styling upon initial release. But they never redid it afaik. Then again, maybe people that actually buy lincolns prefer towncars and navigators. But Lincoln's supposedly considering a version of the mustang. That would probably be your redesigned LS right there.

Here's an article on it.

Like you said, they never bothered to re-do it.

Dang that was the only Sedan car they built that I actually thought had tons of potential. Sad decision, but I guess it just wasnt selling, no thanks to Ford of course. Had it been a bit faster, I would have considered one for my wife's car replacement next year, but not when they arent going to build anymore... What is my only good choice now? 300C, Magnum, etc??? Oh well...

I agree.. My wife drives a 04 LS.. we love the car.. and have had NO problems with it..

We have the v8 with the sport package... the sad part is.. we paid 42k for the car.. and it is only worth 25k after 1 year..

I'm on my 2nd Lincoln LS, a 2003 V8 Sport, previously had a 2000 V8.

IMHO the Lincoln LS is flat out the best car that Ford has ever manufactured and sold in North America.

It is a shame that the LS is going away. Why it's going away is reportedly Ford is loosing money on them. The D/EW-98 platform that the LS is made on is saoid to have became too expensive to manufacture when Ford dropped plans to sell the Lincoln LS in Europe and then dropped plans for more Lincoln LS based vehicles. (They lost planned upon economy of scale).

So in 2003 Ford cut the advertising budget for the Lincoln LS to almost nothing and let the LS die a slow death. It has not had any updates since the 2003 MY other than paint colors and wheels. In addition they dropped a lot of LS models at the request of the dealers in the US and started de-contenting the LS.

As I've posted here before, if I could only afford 1 car and had to choose between a Lincoln LS V8 Sport and a Mustang GT, it's no contest, I'd take the LS in an instant over a Mustang GT.
