Why do my lifters keep cocking sideways?

brand new cam, new lifters, new comp cams dog bone and spider set. last night i noticed it happening again... (this happened a month ago and ate my cam and some lifters) when the lifters are all the way down in there hole i am able to spin some of them under the dog bones a full 360* they seem to be alright when the rockers are adjusted but i dont want to take a chance of it happening again, is this normal at all has this ever happened to anyone? am i just being paranoid??

as far as I know your lifters should never drop below the piont of which the dodg bones are still in contact. This may sound dumb, but Ive seen some body else do it. Are all the dog bones right side up. The up side is marked up, plus it has a bump in the center. If one is upside down it will tilt the bone allowing a lifter to move on the base of the cam lobe. If that is not it, did you have any colapsed lifters the first time it happened. If you do have coclasped lifters, and this is the 2nd time around then maybe there is a setting issue of the rockers. Ive never heard of a lifter dropping below the dog bone unless it was colaspsed.

even a collapsed lifter shouldnt drop that far down because the plunger inside is what is collapsed not the body of it. im guessing there is an install problem or something. post up some pics if you have some

Is it a roller cam? I mean the proper cam for the roller lifter setup?

yep its a trick flow stage 2 cam, ford racing lifters and the comp dog bones... i would be wondering that to but it happened with my lunati cam to.. there all right side up i just dont get it

I've heard the ford racing lifters are only rated to .500 overall lift, but I can't say that for a fact and I doubt that is the problem anyway (just something to consider).

I just installed an E303 cam for my uncle this weekend, there is no way in "h*e*double hockey sticks" the lifter can turn in there.

Were did you get this cam?

Is it new?

If it was a small base circal its possable to have the lifters drop that far in.

maybe the lifters are not the correct ones. they are too short or something

I just measured 1 of my old lifters and from the tip of the roller to the base it was just over 2.5" by about 1/32. So if your lifters are shorter that could be the problem.
