WARNING: This thread may contain extremely stupid questions!

I was just wondering what these things that hang down from the front bumpers of our cars do? (see picture) They look like teeth to me.

Good question.

I guess it's to help protect the undercarriage/draft more air into the radiator?

I don't know but I'm fixing to cover that up with a chin spoiler.

The previous owners of my car broke it off and never replaced it... I guess mine has a toothless grin now???

This may be a really stupid answer but I always thought they were there so you know when you are about to drag your undercarriage on something. It's cheaper to replace that little piece of plastic than to replace the front bumper or your exhaust.

I don't like how they look either. The GT's deffinately look better with the chin spoiler on.

My firebird had basically the same thing but I think it's more aero than anything. Could easily be wrong. [offtopic] saw my old 'bird the other day and the airdam has been broken off silly girl doesn't respect my baby [/offtopic]

That is the reason I put a chin spoiler on mine. I think those things are ugly.

Well you see guys, gumming rice isnt that easy. It takes the teeth to really grind them up . I try to supply my stang with a healthy supply of rice. Keeps her fit and lightweight

I always thougth it was for when u backed up out of a garage or something that had a little drop. I thought it kept your front end up so your body didn't hit. I know thats the only thing that stops my dads vette from hitting the body coming out of the garage. Just my 2 sense
