Why do X-Pipes come in 3 pieces?

If I buy a Mac O/R X off ebay, it says it comes in 3 pieces. Please tell me the tubes are welded together, and that I don't have to go to an exhaust shop to get that done...

Anyone know of 1 piece pipes?

Almost all of the multipiece pipes just bolt together. They come in multiple pieces to allow for a more precise fit on your particular car. Almost every aftermarket midpipe that I've ever seen came in at least two pieces with the exception of the BBK x-pipe. My old h-pipe came in two pieces and my current X came in two as well.

the X part of it is welded, but the tubes that come from the headers to the X are the ones that you bolt onto the X. If it is anything like my mac prochamber then you won't have leaking issues

I was told by Bassani that UPS changed there package size limits, so shipping the X pipe in 1 piece put it over the size limit & would be a over sized charge?

Yep, thats what happened to me. I had my Magnaflow stainless steel catted H-pipe shipped to me in one piece. Now a year later I can't ship the thing anywhere and I can't sell it locally.

I have a MAC O/R X and it also came in three pieces. The X is welded, and the other two pieces just bolt directly to the X, using the same ball type connection that you'd get at the headers or mufflers. Welding isn't necessary, however if you wanted to, you'd have to cut the connections off and weld sections of pipe in.
