Why does'nt Ford build..

A turnkey minus mustang, like the cobra kit car companies. Then we could put whatever engine and tranny we want into it. Or we could just hook up a donkey to it and pull it around. Or put a big solar panel on it and make it go. Use a couple of girbles on a treadmill under the hood. Or maybe sail power, wind is free. Or maybe we could just either buy or not buy what they offer now. I just cant figure this whole thing out.

Well pretty much. I think you need interior and what not. But you can do anything you want to it. This place sells something like that.

Man, thats a stripper. I mean a production GT minus engine and tranny. Thats what the cobra makers call turnkey minus. That would be cool. You could stuff the biggest, baddest engine you could squease in. Too bad federal regulations would not allow it.

I posted in here when this forum first started questions about an 05 Body in White, that I could shoehorn my own stroked Windsor into, or something like that.

From what I saw posted, it would be an off-road car only, would not have VIN, and could not be titled or registered, even as a kit car.

I was thinking the same thing:

2005 BIW, 408 windsor, and about 15 lbs of boost...OOOO MYYYYYY!

it's my understanding that as long as you build it to street legal specs (lights/brakes/windshield/horn/etc.) you could apply for a title from the state, have them inspect it and have a state issued VIN applied to the car. Now granted, it wouldn't be a Ford factory VIN, but it should make it street legal. Pretty much the same principle that dune buggies and kit cars go off of.

I know here is CT, you can get a composite registration which many people use for T-Buckets and street rods. I would assume the same would apply to something like this.

A guy in my home town builds his own cars, from scratch, and drives them all around. I don't know much more about them then that but I do know that you can build your own car and it be legal.
