Why don't more folks choose Kenne Bell Superchargers?

KB's are known for suckin oil....ask JR about that one. He said he would drive around for a little bit...and it would almost be bone dry.

There is something internally wrong with mine and I think it's the seals. I did get it used and it still kicks butt! I don't mind dumping a little oil to have some fun but it will have to go back to be rebuilt.
I still recc'nd one highly b/c as I said before they are FUN to drive with them. I offered any one locally a ride if they wanted to exp it first hand what it feels like to bury your a$$ in the seat @ 2500 rpm with 10#'s of little boost. :D :hail2:

I'm just excited about what possiblities I will have with this intercooled T-66 set up I'm installing with a little huff of methanol.

Very insperational thread  What is done to the rest of your motor? Hyper... pistons? How much boost?Any problems? Wanna sell it :D

What motor?? My motor?? :D

You mean the one I got in the car with 109K and then I sprayed 100 dry shot of n2o until 140K and then added 12#'s with the S-Trim until 163K where I installed the KB with 10#'s of boost?
If you mean this motor...no problems except a couple sets of hgs when I first installed the S-Trim but nothing else has been touched internally, completely Ford factory line worker assembled since 1994 and still running strong enough for me to install my new turbo set-up.

The KB is not for sale sorry. But good news is that you have an awesome powerplant under your hood with tons of possibilities and combos to enjoy if you so desire to change them up now and then. :nice: Nice choice on buying a Stang.

All the urban legends about KB's make me laugh. If you want to know something about a KB, ask someone who has one. If you have any specific questions let me know.

Gary

I'll take you up on that offer Gary :D

I've read lots of your old posts on the various power adder forums so I've got a basic knowledge about KB's but answer these few Q's please.

1) With a h/c/i combo like mine I believe I've seen you say the little 1500 would run out of breath at high rpm's.

A) Am I correct about this?
B) If the answer to A) is Yes then is the 2200 what I would use?

2) I know the Zilla doo dad needs the GT40 lower. Would you briefly explain the use and benefit of the flow and blow Zilla thing. I know it has something to do with a by-pass function but some clarity from you would be great.

Thanks
Grady

Thanks,,I have a set of Thumper heads Im putting on next month(ported E-7's) There good for killer low end torque!! Then Im getting a KB with 6psi's of boost!! I chose KB because I put a ton of mileage on in a year and the others dont last as long from what I have read and heard..Plus I hear they have killer torue :nice: Thanks for the input!!

Grady- No, the 1500 would be adequate to run about 9 lbs on your setup. Not a lot of room for growth, but the kb 2200 would give you all the blower you would need.

The blowzilla is a nickname for the 2200 compressor. The flowzilla is a very free flowing manifold set up. The manifolds measure 75mm almost thru the whole tract. They do come with a bypass that just helps keep the charge cooler, as the air bypasses the compressor.

Let me know if you need anything else. You would absolutely love the KB.

I've seen some say the 1500 can get pretty hot after a cruise cause it doesn't have the bypass. If that is true and the 2200 has the bypass then wouldn't this be all the more reason to go with the 2200?

Years ago I knew the KB was a strong possibility for me when I saw my first torque curve of a KB on a dyno chart :nice:

Do you think much would be gained by having the GT 40 lower ported to hell and back with the 2200 or would it be a waste of money

Come on now Travis.........................

Don't get upset because some want to do it differently :D

Haha, I know your right I wouldnet want everyone to have a Paxton then just how diffrent would I be then  It is an awesome blower and if you want to make good power its one you dont want to over look. I dont like to conform w/ what everyone else has, if someone offred to trade me stright up for my Paxton for a KB Id seriously pass that up.

I ran the 2200 for one summer in my '94 Stang..... awesome street blower! Tons of low end tourque, really nice power curve and just a slight little whine to it.....I liked referring to it as silent death! lol

I have gone turbo now, but moreso because I was looking to put dowm numbers far exceeding what the 2200 is capable of, not because I didn't enjoy it. Which reminds me, I am a lazy bastard and still have the Blowzilla sitting packed away in my shed with a whopping 1800 miles on it. Anyone SERIOUS about putting one on, PM me as I need to move it.

Grady-
I run 11 lbs of boost on my 1500 with no bypass. It does get hot, but so does an intake sitting on top of the motor. I think a bypass is nice to have, but not a necessity. I dont have one, and aint looking for one.

Cobra lower, yes by all means hog it out. You will find a noticable difference.

If you get a KB, I can hook you up with the stuff you need for a water injection kit. It enables me to run 11 lbs on a stock iron headed 302 with 26* of total timing. Not bad huh?

Let me know if you are interested in my 1500. It should be for sale by tonight.

How long can those Novi's go without a rebuild?

Not to sure Ive only had mine for a yr, put about 10,000 on it since it was on from the time it was put up for the winter, it was never even pushed that hard last yr that thing is capable of being spun so much faster then the stock pully will allow. I dont really see it needing a rebuild for awhile, came w/ a 3 yr warranty.

So initial cost of the blower & fuel upgrades are the main factors? Fuel upgrades are with any blower though. I can see initial cost being valid since the vortech's can be had for $2499 ready to install.

You guys that have one, how hard were your tuning/fuel issues? I will have to start off with entry level performance (use a fmu, stay with 24lb. inj.'s & my C&L MAS, re-burn my JMS chip, etc.) until I free up some $ for new MAS, bigger injectors, & PMS.

Im running #30 Injectors w/a 190 Fuel pump and did have an FMU but I think it was messing it up more then helping it so thats off now and Im going to have it tunned w/ the FMU off and just running off the #30's, will be more then enough to support the power level that I'll be at. My Kit came w/ the FMU and Fuel pump but not injectors b/c the kit was designed to be run off #19's thats why they threw in an FMU.

I can give you some insight to that answer. This is a 1500 KB on a stock lower, but the Cobra lower has the same type of restrictions as the stock lower - just not as bad. Here s the before..........
