Why don't the 98 Cobra's have strut tower braces?

Just curious, was reading up on the 97 and noticed that the convert and coupe had a factory installed strut tower brace. Anyone know why the 98's didn't, and is this something my Cobra would benefit from? Thanks in advance.

My guess is they were looking to save a couple of bucks on an outgoing model. Take my V8 SHO; they got rid of the electronically-controlled struts for the last model year the car was made. Would having one help yours? Certainly.

It'll stiffen the car up a little and it'll help in the curves...but they really aren't necessary for drag racing...and as said above, it was probably a move to save money for Ford...If you notice, none of the new edge 99+ Mustangs have them stock either...

it is unnecessary for the average cobra owner and adds weight...something that ford is slowly trying to work on

If they are not that big of a difference I'll save my money, but the car does feel alittle loosey goosey in the turns...maybe its the Kumoto tires that are all most bald!?!?

Yeah, almost bald tires are bad mmmmkay. LOL I'm sure that is limiting your traction during turns.

Oh BTW - Don't worry too much about the lack of a strut-tower brace. I would just opt for some full-length subframe connectors instead.

Any chassis stiffening, including strut tower braces, will make a difference you can feel.

I just put in a rear swaybar, didn't have one when I bought it 1 1/2 yrs. ago, didn't think I'd notice much of a difference, but it felt much tighter.
