Ok my buddy has a 95 gt convertiable mustang with a 347 in it its all built up he has alot of money into this car... last year at the track he ran a 13.2 on street tires... he couldnt really hook up so this year he bought nitto 555r 315 drag radials And tonight he ran a 13.8, 13.4., 13.2, 13.4 in that exact order he doesn't know why he can not brake in to the 12s with his tires... i have one of the slips of his times me racing him in my g/fs srt-4 here are the numbers..

R/T....609
60'...2.159
330...5.797
1/8...8.773
Mph...83.76
1000...11.293
1/4...13.413
MPH... 106.92

What's the rest of the combo? Any power numbers? He should run a LOT better than that. The numbers in ym sig are NA and with my stock shortblock, AFR165 heads, FTI custom cam, edelbrock performer intake, etc.

he has 3.73s he has drag radials hes getting so mad it has to be his driving.. He literally has like everything done to his car im not even going to attemp to right his modifications i just know that he should be running better times... and i know its his driving what should he launch from and what should be his shift points

hes shiftin in the late 6s shouldnt hebe shifting somewhere around 5800?

It depends. It depends on where the car makes peak power which depends on what heads, cam, and intake he's running. Has it ever been on a dyno and tuned?

As much as the driver may need work, based on the 1/8th mile MPH and 1/4 mile MPH its WAY down on power. Is he sure its not a 302? It may sound stupid but based on the MPH he's seeing it sure doesn't seem like stroker. Where is he racing at/what is the track elevation?

I mean dude were not dumbies he built the 347 with his uncle?
Were racing up at keystone raceway right by where you live.

He has the same heads you have, edelbrock intake, i dont know what cam he has i know he has one tho.. and it was dyno'd at like 357 hp or something?

I didn't say he was a dummy, how I am I too know that he assembled it himself. If he had someone else do it he wouldn't have been the first to be swindled and not gotten what he paid for, that's the only reason I said that.

Can you find out what RPM it made that power number at? Knowing that will aid in knwoing where a good shift piont may be. Also, is it a edlebrock performer or an RPM intake? What is the powerband of the cam he has? Once we know this it'll be easier to help.

If he did make 357hp, there's definitely something amiss. One thing that may help is to run the car as cold as possible. I have seen a 2mph difference from when I come rolling in late to PRP from rt22 and onto the track, verus letting the car sit and cool for an hour.

Let me know next time you guys are heading up, I may be able to come and see if I notice anything.

Sounds good! Thanks for the compliment! :nice:

Just a thought. Has the suspension been upgraded? I see a lot of guys pour money under the hood meanwhile they're at the track trying to launch a 3400 lb beast on a decade old broken down suspension. For arguments sake, the guy who said the trap speed should be around 110mph - not with a 13.4 1/4 mile time. Excessive trap speed is a result of the car taking too long to get into the powerband. Even 106mph is high for 13.4sec. With that kind of trap speed you should be in the 12.7-12.9 range. The 60ft time is definitely the key here. If you figure 1.6 to 1.8 being good with drag radials getting your 60ft times down to that from 2.1 should equal half a second in the 1/4 mile.

It seems like a little bit of driver and a little bit of a power issue. If the drag radials were pulling the 60fts that they can he would be seeing high 12s with ease. Then add in a little power lose and he may be around 12.5 which is probably what it should run. Get things sorted.
