Now, that's a little harsh!

I see stock worn out mustangs all the time, OMG how slow, winding out first gear I don't know how long, spinning all over the place, and then I see them drool over turbo imports. They just don't understand how easy it is to make a fox fast. It's about well placed mods and matching mods, and more than just under the hood.

I agree the 5 litres arent that fast infact I said before my handa prelude felt faster and for the money you could make a 4 cyl car way quicker than a fox stang. F-that!!! dude a prelude? i have yet to be impressed by an import.
i just went for a ride in a new evo and it did NOT feel fast. sure it runs a good number but seat of the pants, its not there.

people always wanted rides in my notch with 4.10s (who had never riden in a stang before). when you slam 2nd gear and the front of the car is no longer facing the direction you are moving,... you bet your a$$ that they are afraid, and impressed at that. why?
because there isnt a prelude, evo, nor a 300hp suv that is gonna pull it off.
hop behind the wheel of a 1988 5.0 HO firebird, then we can talk about what slow really means. chevy

I would rather have a 11 second car that you "can't feel" than a 19 second car that "feels fast".

well those are some pretty serious extremes....a 19 second car will never feel fast. AS for foxbodies being slow. I would say for a 3400 pound car to run mid 14's bone stock is quite impressive for a 20 year old car at this point. If you look at 90% of imports out there right now...they arent running much faster than that...even the modded ones. Like someone else said it doesnt take too many properly selected mods to make a stang run in the 13's and that right where a new "hi-tech" 300 hp evo runs! not too shabby...especially considering a new evo costs 30k+ just my opinion on the subject.

BTW i didnt say my 87 would fry the tires in first through 4th,when someone says they can get rubber in 4 out of 5 gears that means any form of rubber whether it is a full burnout or a chirp,at least thats what the term means in these parts.

pull it apart and put a new timing chain in it and start shifting at 5000 rpms instead of taking it to 6K and dump as much weight out of the car as you can reasonably speaking ....

That means they have no traction.

Roll Race Retard says: "I need to race from a roll because it can't get traction because it make so much power"

Translation: "I only modded the engine for nothing but top end power and I'm too much an idiot to figure it out how to build a suspension"

I agree though some cars do feel faster than they are. True story, I was at work test driving a 89 Civic 5 speed, lowered, fart can equipped. OMG was it loud. Seeing the kid the drove it in, how he drove it in, I knew he would care, so I am trying to pull into traffic so I get on it, the motor was screaming, ripped through first, through second, into third and started topping it out, felt like I was doing about 80mph, the car was just bouncing along, then a cop came from the other direction and knowing the speed limit was 45 I though "O.S., I don't want to get in trouble in a customer's car and especially in this thing" so I glance down at the speedo to see just how bad I was over. I was doing 43mph, LOL. I bet if I wrecked that pos the accident would have looked like a 80mph crash, I don't know how people drive those cars without being scared to death. Get this, the customer said the clutch was bad, that is why he brought it in. The NOS floormat was in the way of the clutch pedal. RICERS

Lol the mat was in the way... Now thats funny Well I do not know a lot about the fox's I had a 03 Cobra, and I now have my Baby thats in my sig. Honestly, I would never get a 4 banger and talk about racing...the two just do not go together IMO. Now if your going to race other Honda's well..I see the kids all the time racing the honda's so I guess it can be cheap fun. As for me, all it took was hitting the gas pedal a few times at a light to let them understand to "stay in your weight class" But still you have a few who still think that their little honda's can out-musscle a V8..

Your right, and then your wrong, because those are peak numbers, most of those motors don't make 300tq, and thier peak torque is much higher in the rpm band. A foxbody is just a good platform, stock it's kind of slow. Yes, the motor is outdated, but there are updates available. If you want, go to ls1tech.com and look at "conversions and hybrids" where there are quite a few people dropping in LS1's into foxbodies. You can pick up a LS1 with T56 for about $3500-5000, which sounds like a lot, but consider what your getting and it's potential. For me, I have been bouncing around options, and the LS1 was one of them, but decided to go all out, nothing will be made by Ford on my car except the body.

I used to have a '95 Escort GT 5speed. Honestly, my 5.0 felt slower when I got it. Yeah, it had more torque, but the Escort had more up top, in fact the first time I ran it at the track, the ET was the same, but the MPH was 4mph slower in the mustang in the 1/8th mile, and the sad thing is that my Mustang at the time had underdrives, CAI, and flowmasters, while the Escort when I ran it had only a flowmaster. (don't flame me, I was just practicing) However, the Mustang was so much more fun to drive. It's a real car, the escort, is an escort. I miss the MPG though, plus the sleeper factor. The base Escort LX has a 88hp 1.9, most don't even know about the GT's 1.8 mazda motor. I would never go back.

Better engine than a 5.0. I think. BUT, I wouldn't swap mine for an LS1 any day.

A turbo kit for a Honda costs less to build than gears and a HCI swap costs for the 5.0's. If you want to run 12's stock, spend $3k and buy a used 600cc crotch rocket. 5.0's are fast for their time, and are headturners.. mine was slow as hell, but driving it correctly gave it the appearance of being fast.

Tell that to my friend who has a mid-high 11 turbo Eclpise. 1.6L engine, pushing 500fwhp. And there are 1.6L engines with over 1000hp.

Or you could drop a LS7 in it, low-mid 11s and have it for FAR less than $50k

Welp...simple matter of fact that those guys running around preaching up and down about how they're civic or PRELUDE is running high 13's....not a single damn one of them are N/A. None of them, they're either sucking down No2 or bumping boost with a turbo, no 4 banger is going to be fast on enginealone, they're simply limited by their small displacement, they make no torque. And its going to cost an arm and leg and a couple of teeth to upgrade them to the point of a mildly built v8. Come on now...like $550 for a DC header Then a Venom Intake costs like $700that adds what? Like 3hp and 3ft lbs? Ill take my air silencer out and make that much for free...lol, all my friends gawk over Turbo'd supra's running 10's..im like....imagine what you could do with a 05 vett or a Cobra, they cost about the damn same and spend the same amount of money on it. I was watching that stupid ass import show on DIY, "Tricked Out" and he was upgrading a Ford Focus...no offense but its just domestic rice IMO, the guy added a entire exhaust, a CAI and a complete computer upgrade and gained like 7hp and 5ft lbs if i remember right. He spent about $1,100 for that... **** that!!!!!

I'll admit that new cars such as the Evo's and the Sti's are fast, but i havent seen a one of yall mention that those cars are also all wheel drive. Compare that to a fox that can launch as hard as those two without incinerating the tires and losing the hole shot without having an awesome supsension tune. I have gotten owned by a couple of Sti's and even an LS1, but i wouldnt trade my fox or my 5.0 for anything else. Have you seen the new turbo kits from Hellion? Like 600 or 700 HP and 800 ft.lbs of torque with no other mods. Now show me an import that can keep up with that for around $10,000 to $15,000 including the turbo kit and new engine to hold that power.....
